Babar's Guide to Paris: A Picture Book

Awesome book we got prior to our trip to Paris for our kids. Simple but wonderful book!

This is a classic children's series with lovely illustrations. The story and illustrations are iconic and as an artist myself, I love having this book in my collection and a reminder of a simple look to illustrations.

I bought this for myself in honor of the author who just passed away. Perfect to read to my great nieces.

My husband and I love to travel to France, so when we come back we tell our 6-year-old grandson about what we saw and did. This Babar Book makes it easy for us to explain our travels, and he loves it. Now he wants to go to Paris with us too!

He hit so many of the good points about Paris in this book in such a charming way, Because Paris is so special, and because of the fond memories of the twenty times I have been to Paris and France, several of the pages brought tears to my eyes! Babar "gets it." And to think Laurent de Brunthoff says this is last book. What a finale! Tres tres bon!

I found this lovely, but my son found it a bit slow. It is not focussed on landmarks or sights (I'm not even sure the Eiffel Tower gets a mention!), but focuses more on the feeling of being in Paris. For example, there are several pages about the feel of a cafe and etiquette there.If your child is a fan of Babar, or of Paris, they will like it.

Adorable book. I saw it in Paris in the book store of one of the popular galleries and decided to order from Amazon instead of toting it around Europe before coming home. It was much less expensive on Amazon too. Great book for kids going to or having visited Paris or even for adults.
