Basic, no frills, radiant patio heater.
Everything works as advertised. This does not have a remote. It has a pull string with 3 settings. It does the job and at a very reasonable price. You can pay more than double for the same 1500 watt heater. I like the 500, 1000, and 1500 watt settings. Sometime, if it is not too cold, 500 watts is enough. No complaints so far. I use this in my garage and I move it to where I am working. I don't need to heat the entire garage, I just need to heat me.

Exceptional Deal
At the current price ($70), this is a deal. I bought two at this price and the first one at nearly twice the price, and it was a good buy. The factory had a fire so it's been tough getting these. This is a "promotional" price, so act quickly.Easy to assemble. The base is large, so it's quite unlikely you'll knock this over. When pushed, it does creek until it stops rocking so if you use this in the wind, it may creek (I use mine inside, no problem). The heat selections are made sequentially using a somewhat "mechanical" switch so if you're at low heat you have to pull the switch cord three times to turn it off. Not trusting the durability of mechanical switches, I use an external switche: (3 Pack) Uninex White Grounded On/Off Power Switch with Amber Light ETL).May not be so good in a bedroom if you require darkness. I use these as ambient light in my living room.

Good heat, but difficult assembly
The item puts out pretty good heat and is sturdy. However, assembly proved to be confusing until we figured out that the middle pole had an insert. Apparently, during packaging, the insert (which can be used to raise or lower the unit) slipped inside and wasn't visible. The instructions didn't say anything about the insert, so we didn't even know it was there. We were ready to box up the thing and send it back, believing we were missing a part, when it finally dislodged. Otherwise, we are very pleased. It hasn't been below 50 yet … so time and temp will be the best test.

STOPPED WORKING | HARD TO PACKAGE & RETURN | DONT BUY!
At first, I thought would be perfect for my small outdoor patio area. Though it was a bit difficult to put together and it somewhat kept the area warm enough to go out for a quick smoke break. However, after 3 uses the heating element simply stopped turning on and now it's useless. I do not recommend this product, save your time and money and look elsewhere.I usually have a fairly simple return, however, my last request was for a tall patio heater that stopped working after 3 uses. It was very difficult to assemble and probably more difficult to disassemble.I wish I could simply give this 7 ft tall junk piece heater to the UPS driver as-is.I order 50-80 items a month from amazon but I think this will be my LAST large package purchase.Instead, I will do Walmart or sams. At least I can return it at my local stores without disassembling and packaging.

Needlessly hard to assemble
Almost all the screws were already inserted so they all had to be removed first. I also had to do this for the screws to be able to install the handle on the heating element. Did they tell me that behind those screws were tiny bolts that then fell into the heating element enclosure? No. This required me to remove all the screws from the heating element enclosure itself exposing the wires and heat rods. Then carefully pull it apart and shake the unit to allow the minuscule bolts to fall out. Then I had to attach the handle with the 2 small screws while keeping the tiny minuscule bolts in place and the whole time hoping I will not damage the unit. Then I had to reattach the heater enclosure parts with 4 screws pushing in all the wires at the same time. You would think that this was the worst part. No. The final top rod to the back of the heating unit would not enter into the receptacle on the back no matter what I did. The instructions clearly state to call a toll free number and the person I spoke to was of no help. He agreed the instructions were poor and told me to return the product to Amazon! Instead I used a flashlight and found plastic protrusions where hole were made to insert the screws. As they were deep inside I had to use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to remove these protrusions. I was then able to insert the final rod into the back of the heating element. The unit works but it is useless below 50 F. Also you have to be quite close to it to feel the heat. I kept the unit but I would never buy it again or recommend it to anyone.

Not as expected
You have to stand directly under this heater. I was under the impression by the picture that heat would be projected out but definitely not the case.
