Review: Crank Brothers for the win - I am a long time user of crank brothers pedals. I have had the egg beaters and the mallets both clip in of course. The quality of crank brothers is unmatchable. The crank brothers style is excellent for the dry or the muddy days as the clip area is wide open allowing mud to just fall through and not cause issues when clippings back in.
Review: Hard to get into, acceptable to get out of, Titanium Eggbeaters are mega light and they wear well. - Ok, here's a good summary of 2 Years experience with Eggbeater Pedals and cleats: 1. They're really slow to get clicked in compared to Shimano XTR, which easily click right in every single time. 2. But! During a 20 mile off road ride, I rarely click out of the pedals anyhow so they work alright. 3. Be sure to get the metal plats which protect the soles of your expensive shoes from the pedals, otherwise, they'll dig into your soles. 4. I've had these particular cleats and pedals for 2 years of heavy riding and they still operate as new although the cleats are pretty banged up. I'll replace them over the off season. 5. Even with the 0 Degree Float and 6 degree out, they're still pretty slow to exit where XTR click out almost instantly. They do click out adequately. That's one thing you'll find after getting experienced with clipless pedals, your mind will become accustomed to when you should escape the pedals in an routine bike movement, if that makes sense. In other words, you will find yourself auto-clicking out of these pedals before your brain even tells you that you need to be out. It's like an automatic response to a mental response to danger. My favorite part of these Eggbeaters is that they weigh 178 grams because the spindles are titanium. *** Update after 2 years of heavy usage:*** Two pictures: 1. The worn-looking one are these cleats after 2+ years of very aggressive riding and racing They look really bad but they work just fine. They click out seemingly automagically if the bike takes a hit and I needed to get out anyhow, even before I realize it. 2. The newer-looking ones are fresh ones I just put on for a race in a few weeks. (Never changes things just before a race, btw. Test everything first.) Should be a little bit tighter like I like. Observer the metal plates under the cleats. I strongly advise using those to protect your expensive Italian riding shoes and their carbon fiber sole. After two years of riding, the plates are worn but still serviceable. Anyhow, I'm still not a fan of the extra (up to) few seconds it takes to re-click back in. They're far less accurate than Shimano XTR pedals.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these made by crank bros?**
A: The ones I received do not look like the real ones:
- There's no original packaging/branding
- There were no shims
- There was a hex key included, which worked for the original CB screws I had with the original cleats on my shoes I wanted to replace. Funnily it did not work with the screws included in this package as the screws were for way smaller hex key and looked funky so I used the old screws I had.
- They seem to be good replicas but feel strange, could be because I forgot how new cleats feel.

**Q: Can anyone verify if these are real, legitimate, genuine Crank Bros cleats? Some reviews say they're not, but some say they are...**
A: If you paid around 18$ +- they are probably genuine. If you paid around 6$. They are knockoffs. The Chinese cleats are ok but they are tight, which could be potentially be dangerous.

**Q: These are knockoffs cleats. Why is Amazon allowing this product to be sold as authentic here?**
A: These are Crank Bros cleats, but packaged for overseas sale (Japan). For whatever reason, the seller acquired a quantity and is selling them stateside. They are OEM product.

**Q: how thick are the cleats?**
A: Universal Fit and come with shims, Thanks Jj

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable and quick install.
*by N***H on December 12, 2025*

Always a solid set of cleats. Let the first set go a little too long before replacing LOL These install super easy but if it’s your first time using them be sure to have your phone handy. Instructions are all online but I found it easier to pull up the install on you tube.
