How do screw it in? It didn’t come with a screw for the base which has a nut.

The vertical rod should have a screw attached and “poking out” - you screw this to the base.

Hi! What is the diameter of the dowel (not the base), please?

the dowel is about half an inch wide and holds stand to mega size rolls
