A book which will be a ray of hope for many students
I became interested in astronomy while working as a Research Assistant for the past nine years at the CREST (Centre for Research and Education in Science and Technology) campus of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) situated at Hoskote, Karnataka. Being a senior operator of the 2-meter Himalayan Chandra Telescope (HCT) operated by IIA, Bangalore and located at Ladakh, India, I always felt the need of a book which can guide prospective students to pursue astronomy as a career.Gourav's 'Becoming an Astronomer' can be truly considered as a rare jewel. I hope it would have been published few decades ago so that I myself would have received the benefits of reading it. In a country like India where astronomy is still a subject which remains out of reach from most students and general public, this book will act like a ray of hope. It is like a dream come true for many students who are interested in astronomy but do not know how to progress. Written nicely with extensive details, it will definitely help many Indian students to achieve their goal of pursuing astronomy as a career in future. A fantastic initiative by the author indeed.Pramod Kumar SResearch Assistant,CREST campus, Hoskote, KarnatakaIndian Institute of Astrophysics

Very Good & Helpful Book
Probably the only book describing in details the ways and processes following which an Indian student can pursue astronomy as a career and become a good astronomer in future. Also the sample questions and answers will be helpful for students appearing for astronomy Olympiad. A must read one.
