Color Oops Extra Conditioning Hair Color Remover, 1 Application | Processes in 20 Minutes, Safely Removes Permanent & Semi-Permanent Dye, Ammonia & Bleach Free

I used to use this when I was young and tried lots of different hair colors. It worked, but it left my hair fried and orange. I'm not sure if they have a new formula but it worked great. I used a temporary hair color that didn't want to wash out. Remembering this product I decided to give it a try. It worked better than it did before. I followed the directions and used a clarifying shampoo to remove residue. Didn't dry out my hair. I did lose a big chunk of it which was not good but it is a harsh process so it makes sense. The smell isn't that bad but it did linger for a few days. Got my blonde hair color back. No complaints. I will definitely be using this again if I need it. Used 2 boxes for my long hair. --- EDIT: after a month, my hair still smells like the chemical used in this product. My hair is also a touch brassy now. Seems to be falling out more. However, this doesn't change my rating. It removed my color, I was aware there were risks. My hair looks healthy and I have my natural curls back. I'm sure it will recover once I stop processing it and coloring it.

This worked perfectly, but I wish I had some idea of just how intense the smell is. When you mix it, the smell isn't terribly noticeable. You get sulfur, but it is mild compared to the developed product smell. I followed instructions and rinsed as directed, but it stuck to my hair and I locked up pretty badly. My friend had to review the instructions for me, and coax me into rinsing more because my ability to problem solve completely broke down. I insisted I followed the instructions! Lol. It was a mess. I have always dyed and bleached my own hair and am able to tolerate most coloring products. This is on a whole other planet. Be careful, and good luck!

I tried this on my reddish hair (naturally brown) and it did take a bit of the red tint out but the REALLY damaged my hair. It felt worse than your typically bleach damage. I had my hair professionally dyed a reddish brown color but hadn’t had any new red added to my hair in at least 2 years (no dye at all in over a year). I was wanting to go neutral so could lighten my hair without so much brassy tone and also try to avoid a lot of bleaching jobs to limit damage. I figured if this didn’t take the color out since it was so old and stayed in my hair for so long that it wouldn’t be damaging and I could just go the bleaching route. It’s made it’s really difficult to lighten as I still have ongoing dryness and damage from this initial product so now bleaching is nerve wracking. I noticed not only dryness but my hair tangles easily and I have way more hair falling out than before.it’s constantly frizzy looking too and so lifeless because I am trying to lighten a bit at a time after how badly this left my hair, it’s a muddled dark blond and almost greenish in parts (not from this product but from how it lightened after I used this and then tried to tone it the red out) I should have just bleached it afterall and had better results if I was gonna end up with damage. I used this in Oct and I am struggling to lighten it and not ruin my hair. I lightened it in Nov but have been trying to repair it before I attempt to try to lighten it anymore. It’s so ugly I don’t take photos or haven’t gone out to see my friends since using this product. I can’t believe this little box has completely changed my life in such a negative way and for so long. It would be one thing if bleach had caused this but knowing that the problem was from this product that maybe lifted the red by a shade wasn’t worth it.

Colorfix was my go to color remover for years but I decided to give this a go and I'm glad I did because it works just as well if not better without the rotten egg smell that Colorfix would leave in your hair that literally lasted at least two shampoos. Colorfix also will redarken when coloring hair again, making it very difficult to know how your hair is going to turn out without a strand test. A reminder, this will not restore your hair to it's natural color as color lifts... you will get a lighter brassy color once this removes it that you will either have to massively tone or color over. This stuff has instructions that you need to rinse for like 20 minutes, but I went kinda crazy and took Dawn (yes the dish soap) to my hair 2x and then regular shampoo to help remove the color. This stuff worked. I had a horrible red situation going on with a color that was supposed to be a deep red but turned out more clown 🤡 red. It removed it all without damaging my hair. Update: so the weirdest thing is the last 2x I used this, the rotten egg smell is present and it is POTENT. Like my hair stunk still after several shampoos. And when i decided to try colorfix again (have a black box dye situation I'm working out lol) it didn't smell much and the scent left my hair almost immediately. Also colorfix has worked waaaaay better for black dye. I made the mistake of recoloring the next day when using this and not just sitting in front of the mirror and watching the development, my hair turned nearly black again bc the old color remaining oxidizes so fast and then the new color grabs so fast. The best thing I've found for black dye is colorfix and then NOT recoloring for several weeks, even if things are super brassy.

ive used color oops multiple times and have never had a bad experience. ive stripped blue , purple , green , red , etc out of my hair without issues for years. i had used this to strip orange out of my hair and it left it pretty blonde , almost as if i had bleached it. the orange was already fading and i just wanted to get whatevers left over out. the box advises you that it will NOT get ALL of the dye out , and if it doesnt you can do another round of it. it wont turn it super platinum blonde , it can turn out brassy sometimes and thats okay !! the smell is definitely there , but its not too bad. its not too strong but its not unnoticeable either. overall 10/10 in my book :)

Smells terrible🤢🤢🤢 my hair is dyed the same color as displayed on the box and the results did not come out the same. It did remove some dye but not all of it.

I honestly didn’t think this was going to work. I’ve been dyeing my hair with permanent black box dye since I was in high school, and I’m almost 40 now. That’s nearly two decades of layer after layer of black dye, so I figured there was no way one treatment would make much of a difference. To my surprise, after just 20 minutes, it pulled out WAY more color than I expected. My hair went from almost black to a much lighter reddish-brown/copper color, and I could actually see all the old red tones underneath that had been trapped by the black dye. It definitely gave me a great base to move toward the red shade I’ve been wanting. The process wasn’t difficult, and I appreciated that it didn’t smell nearly as harsh as I expected. Just make sure you follow the rinsing instructions really well—that part is important. If you’ve been using black box dye for years and think you’re stuck with it forever, don’t give up. I was genuinely shocked by how much color this lifted in a single 20-minute application. I’ll definitely keep this on hand for future color changes.

I wasn't sure what was going to happen, but I was a little shocked at how much color this formula removed. I have been using a dark brown box dye on my hair for a few years now. About a week or so ago, I decided to try a dark dye with hints of amethyst. Underneath everything, my hair is gray. The front looked great, but my gray hair likes to spread at the back of my head. I had a nice 2 inch circle there. I ended up with a 2 inch spot of light lavender right at the back, so anyone walking behind me would see it very well. I applied Color Oops and covered it for 20 minutes. My hair is now a very light strawberry blonde. I have so many more options for color now. I am letting the hair rest but I don't think I will go dark again. Eventually, I plan to embrace my gray hair, so this is exactly what I wanted to see. I have included a before and after picture.

No way!!! OK I bought this hoping for the best unboxed it got it ready, after seeing the bottle in the liquid I was absolutely like no way. Is this going to work? So I slapped it on my head. Had this floral smell and then a smell of a Septic truck. I’m like OK. Either nothing’s gonna happen. This is going to work or I’m going to lose my hair. At this point, I’m fully committed. I am blow drying my hair right now, and it has lifted three applications of box die that I wanted out of my hair This product completely exceeded any expectation I ever had and then some Wow!!! I want to do this amazing purple, but I ended up doing a brown and then a chocolate brown and then the purple and it just wasn’t working out so now I can do a very light bleach tone it out put the purple on and it’ll be amazing of course I will be giving my hair a hot minute to calm down after all that!!
