## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it easy to push? I am a 72 year old woman with some back problems but still get out there and use a regular snow shovel.**
A: I am 71 male with a bad back. Easy to push on hard surfaces (deck, conc. sidewalk) and more difficult on rough surfaces (grass, dirt, etc.). Some lifting involved in deeper snow, so maybe start before it gets 6 in. deep. Intake is 16 in. wide but may take half the width at each pass. Side venting snow R or L does not work as well as straight blowing. It is a respectable tool for the price.

**Q: How well does this handle the mound of snow at the end of a driveway after the snow plow goes by? Can I 'shave off' 6 inches at a time over the top?**
A: How did this work out for you? I am so grateful for this question and the answers...as I needed this for this purpose...my gas snowblower is too big to maneuver the area at the edge of my driveway as it on a downhill slope

**Q: How does this compare to the snow joe cordless shovels? very confused between all the models. which is more user-friendly for elderly?**
A: I have never used a snow joe cordless shovel, but I have used the Earthwise Snow Shovel, used it last year and it made shoveling much easier even with wet heavy snow. I like The Earthwise very satisfied with it.

**Q: Battery Life expected minues or hours during snow blowing use ?**
A: David,
Thank you for your question about our Snow Shovel. You can expect a run time of 25 to 40 minutes on a fully charged battery. For maximum run time you will need to charge and discharge the lithium battery two or three times to achieve a full and complete charge. The run time will also be dependent on the depth and type of snow. A heavy wet snow could be less then a light fluffy snow.
Enjoy your Earthwise Snow Shovel.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great!
*by on Reviewed in the United States December 1, 2025*

This little unit works great. We ordered it much earlier in 2025, really after the snow season, as it was on sale. There were undescribed delays in receiving it, but it finally arrived in August.I ordered it as we had one heavy snow last year, of about a foot, that for the first time in my life, I felt overwhelmed even though I grew up in Michigan’s U.P. shoveling through much deeper snows. I’m in my 70s now, but I’m a fit and strong 70s, keeping in shape for snow skiing. I decided, though, it’s probably time for some kind of snow removal machine. We don’t have room in our garage for a true snow thrower. I also didn’t want to deal with the annual maintenance of a gas fueled machine. The price on this unit was such that I was willing to take a flyer on it. Even if it lasts just one year, I’ll be happy. It also had good reviews. I considered the EGO electric shovel, which had higher ratings, but there was one review of it that hit home. One of the reviewer’s description of himself fit me to a tee, 70s, in shape, strong, same height & weight. He said that the knock on the EGO was the lack of wheels. With its weight, and even with his strength, he had trouble maneuvering the EGO. So, I opted for the Earthwise model with its wheels, not just for me, but in case my wife ever has to use it.As I write this, it is Dec 1 and we are getting our first snow. We have about 3 inches or so, and it’s slightly on the wet side. So, I fired up this thing for a shake down cruise. It was well worth the wait! I like to have perfectly clean concrete after shoveling. This thing goes down to the concrete, although some overspray might dust the newly cleaned areas. After playing with the adjustable chute, though, I was able to avoid that. There are some nuances to using it, like don’t push hard on the front edge of the machine. Just use the hand grip and gently guide the machine through the snow, letting the machine do the work. Don’t force it. In my case, the snow was getting thrown about 15-20 feet in a fine spray.Make sure there isn’t tree debris lurking beneath the snow. I had some leaves and twigs. The leaves didn’t do much, but the twigs are a little tough on the unit, although it didn’t break. I just don’t recommend using this as a wood chipper, too.I have about a 40 foot long, two lane, driveway. The battery charge was sufficient to get me through that, although I’m contemplating buying a backup battery. I’ll see how the season goes with the one.The unit easily stores out of the way on hooks on my Gladiator Garage Works Geartracks on my garage wall. So, based on my one use so far, the ease of use, sufficient battery power, and the easy storage, I highly recommend this electric snow shovel.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Electric Snow Shovel, Could be Improved
*by on Reviewed in the United States February 19, 2025*

I was looking for something during the winter time to help me get rid of the snow on my driveway and my small business near the exits so people didn't track in snow. I came across this and decided to give it a shot. Assembling the unit was pretty easy. This unit can move a lot of snow surprisingly quickly! Providing it is NOT packed dense snow. Anything with ice tends to really bog down the unit and the unit can stop if overloaded. Easy solution is to do multiple passes, especially if over 8-12 inches of snow.Battery was able to take care of my 4 car driveway and a good area around my front and back entry way areas to my business on 1 charge. Granted this is the first full charge, so time will tell if the battery holds up long term.Having wheels on an electric snow shovel is a total must. I've seen a few more expensive electric shovels, and seems like just as much a chore to shove it manually because they have no wheels on it. This design really is unique and so happy it has wheels. However this brings me to a few issues I have with the machine. The unit, with the battery installed will not stand up on its own. It must be propped up against something or will need to be laid down. Without the battery the unit can free stand with the wheels installed. Also the safety mechanism is really annoying. You must hold down 1 button and a trigger at all times for the unit to function. This is not ideal. The button is poorly positioned, and ends up being a strain to hold the button in while pulling the trigger after long periods of use. This brings me to another issue, at least for me. I'm a 6ft 6 tall guy. This machines handle is not long enough to comfortably use this, even with the wheels. I'm constantly hunched over using this thing, and the handle cannot extend or retract. A feature I really wish this unit had.Using this over a traditional shovel is much quick, without a doubt. Though working with this electric shovel has to be used much differently and will need MUCH more room to operate it. If trying to shovel a tight space, or not very open space, you will get no where with this unit. Since the snow is shot up into the air in front of you, you need much more open space to use this efficiently. You can only shoot the snow in front of you or pretty much just in front of you. There is a way to adjust the angle of where the snow is shot out. Unfortunately its really only 30 degrees in any direction. You will not get 180 degrees shooting direction with this unit. Also gotta be weary of where the snow is being shot. Shooting snow in the direction of windows or vehicles in the drive way is a good way to break a window or damage the vehicle. Ice, rocks and other debris can and will be shot up through this unit as well. But that is more of a per use scenario.Outside of these issues, its a affordable alternative to the more expensive electric snow blowers or even some of the more expensive electric snow shovels. But some ergonomics designs make this unit somewhat of a hassle to operate, despite the amazing wheel design and is not adjustable in any way so if you are taller, it may be difficult to use.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome little machine. Highly recommend this product.
*by on Reviewed in the United States February 4, 2018*

OK folks,This is about the coolest tool I have bought in years!!! I live in Wisconsin, and we get snow. I have a double wide, one and three quarter car deep, and this little machine has no problem moving 6 inches of moderately heavy snow. This being done on one battery charge. It effortlessly cleans down to the pavement, throws the snow a good distance, and can be used at 5:30 am without disturbing the neighbors. All plusses. That being said, there are a few cautions worthy of noting:1: Shovel will not stand up with the battery installed.2: Control of blowing snow is a bit iffy. Although, this as with all snowblowers, you cant blow into the wind and be comfy.3: This is by far the worst issue. If you don't make sure to get the battery installed all the way, it will stop. One might worry about this until you figure out what the heck is going on. I give it a good smack to be sure to get it locked into place. No more issue!4: The safe lock out button on the side of the handle is kind of a burden. I don't leave the machine running when I'm not blowing snow, (unlike a gas machine) so I am constantly having to hold this button in. A little bit tiring on the hand, but once you get in the groove of the blower, it comes natural and you know when to hold and when to let go.All the above are very minor issues compared to the ease and performance of this little machine. I am still in the first year of ownership, and have my neighbors all asking about this blower. I would highly recommend this to anyone that doesn't have a huge amount of snow to move. After all, it is a light duty blower, but does a much bigger job than I ever expected it to do.
