Agatha Christie's Poirot: The Movie Collection, Set 1

David Suchet is Hercule Poirot mon ami. This is binge heaven! Curl up and get lost in it.

There are six installments of the Poirot Movie Collection, almost all including three movies based on Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot mystery novels. It's very easy to portray Poirot in a way that his eccentricities dominate the story and make him seem more or less rediculous, when in fact Christie has been loved over many decades for her unusual lead detectives (male and female), diverse characters, plots, and unique way of writing. They may seem dated now in terms of the era(s) in which they are set, but I find this a significant part of their charm. In terms of the story lines, they remain absorbingly diverse and creatively conceived. The renditions here are the best I have seen.

I'm in art deco heaven! The beautifully detailed sets get this series an immediate 3 stars in my book. I hope whoever was responsible for these incredibly detailed and accurate sets got lots of awards! The performances of the key players push it over the top--easily a 5-star production.I was introduced to this series by watching the last few seasons, as the first several seasons were not at that time available. Now that they are, I am amazed at how solid the very first episodes of the series are. I was expecting the roughness one usually sees in the initial episodes of a long-running series, a mild sort of embryonic awkwardness as the actors gradually shift and adjust to fit comfortably into their roles; a process which is understandable and par for the course. But this series came out of the gate fully-formed! It's as if the whole ensemble had been playing these parts for years. It's tight and sleek and charming from the get-go. A wonderful and remarkable achievement!David Suchet and the entire crew should be very proud. They have created a truly memorable work of art.

Always was a huge fan of this series. Definitely recommend.

I haven't seen these in YEARS!!! I thought they may not be out on video. So very glad they are. I could watch my Christis all day, and have! The movies are true to the books, and Suchet is true to Poirot! This is a good place to start if you haven't seen any of her books put to film....and, if you enjoy a good mystery, you'll be buying them all up...as I am! They are timeless which is the sign of wonderful writing. You can't go wrong with these which were put out by BBC. They love Ms. Christi and have made sure that she was done proud!

I own all but 2 of the Poirot series with David Suchet as Poirot. I will eventually purchase the whole series, and will be sad when I have come to the end. David Suchet has portrayed Poirot excellently.I do not compare the movies to the Agatha Christies books. I have not read the books but will someday. I enjoy setting down at days end, plugging in a DVD of Poroit and engulfing myself in a life style of England and the world of years ago. It is hours of entertainment that I can watch over and over.Thank you

I've been a Poirot fan for years. It was sad when the season ended. I still watch the re-runs and since there are so many, I sometimes forget how the story ends. David Suchet (Poirot) plays the role well. You almost believe that he's playing himself until you've seen him interview and you're like, "Wow! This guy is so versatile. Nothing like his character."

Exactly what I expected.
