"These lightsabers are AWESOME!!" Thus saith my Star Wars enthusiasts. They can whack each others' light sabers for hours on end, stopping only to indulge in Vader-esque monologues, and these wonderful lightsabers have survived such enthusiastic usage. Great product!

If you can, pay for it local.
If you can, pay for it local. This has been rebranded for the new Rebels Disney series, but the same stock construction from Clone Wars. This is a great toy and works as expected. There is a convenience / safety-ish mechanism that allows you to 'click' the last saber-point in and will lock it into closed mode, even when hanging downward. A quick, sharp flick of the handle will release it in most cases - young children will have a problem with this release, though. The lock feature will decay over time and frequent usage. Main issue with buying this online is the price: This goes for 9.99 at retail stores. If you are Amazon Prime, you are paying extra for shipping, regardless, and it's probably available for much less at the local Wal-mart, Target, Newbury Comic, drugstore, etc. My recommendation: pay for it local, if you can.

Nothing fancy about this.
I bought this for a Halloween costume and it's okay. It does not light up, and does not have a button to pop out the blade. You have to swing it to get it to open up. Unfortunately, if you do this too forcefully, the blade tends to get stuck and is difficult to close. Also, if you try to hang it on a belt, the blade will usually pop out (because it points downward). It clicks back into place but doesn't always stay put. Don't spend more than $15 on this (including shipping), because it's not worth it.

Saber can be hard to put back in but overall is a solid lightsaber for the price

it is nice but it was too big for my 3 1/2 ...
it is nice but it was too big for my 3 1/2 year old girl. BTW this one doesn't light up.
