Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes with Basil, Gluten Free and Vegetarian Recipe, 28oz Cans, 6-Pack

I ordered this the first time because my grocery store always seemed to be out of the Cento Crushed Tomatoes which was my previous “go to” for crushed tomatoes since the pandemic started. If you like tomato based dishes like stews, Chili, or Spanish Rice, most of what you taste is the crushed tomatoes. So the better the crushed tomatoes, the better the end result. I have also tried this with some added olive oil and grated Parmesan cheese and ground beef as a spaghetti sauce - It does that well too.What I like about this brand of crushed tomatoes is that it tastes fresh to me. I do not detect even a hint of the metallic taste that lower quality canned tomatoes has. It tastes slightly sweet and acidic of course as you would expect from a tomato. And you can taste a bit of the basil. It has a pleasing texture - its as thick as you could expect from crushed tomatoes (it is not tomato paste, that’s a different product) and is smooth without visible chunks or cubes of tomatoes. I think the price is reasonable from Amazon for the quality that you get. I now keep my pantry stocked with this brand crushed tomatoes for whenever I crave a tomato based dish. I have nothing negative to say about this product at all.

As soon as my first order of this product arrived, I was going to make a sauce and opened the can. I tasted a spoonful of it and it was so sweet with not trace of acidity that I called the company to verify that NO sugar was added to these tomatoes. I was totally assured that NO sugar is ever added and the sweetness is natural. It made a lovely sauce; and I kept back about 7 ounces of the 28 ounces can, and separately, I added a bit of water and Half & Half and a bit of garlic and made myself a mug of the best tomato bisque. I will also use this to make Bloody Marys as well as for making pizza. I am so thrilled this product is sold on Amazon. It is not available in stores, in my state, Texas. Call the company and see if it sold in your state. Best to compare the store prices to Amazon prices. I hope the wonderful prices will continue. It is a fabulous keeper. I am actually sending some to friends to sample. Must get the word out for a good thing.

These are best canned tomatoes. I use for all my Italian recipes.

I have ordered 5 cases over the last 7 months; the quality is good and the price is reasonable, however a few of the cans were dented.

I am a red sauce junkie. I've tried so many different brands of tomatoes it isn't even funny. I've tried nearly every brand of DOP whole tomatoes that I can find. What I end up with is a can of partially peeled tomatoes, really watery tomatoes, tomatoes partially eaten by bugs, or tomatoes that are so dense that they need to be mashed for the potato masher. I impulse bought these so that I had a quick way to make some marinara sauce when we make pizza at home. What I ended up with was the best sauce that I have ever made! These tomatoes are rich, thick and do not need to be cooked down or cooked with pasta to get rid of the excess water.Take a 12 inch pan and place a few tablespoons of olive oil, a couple of teaspoons of crushed garlic (or more), set the burner to simmer and heat just until the garlic is fragrant. Add one can of these tomatoes, a couple pinches of salt, one quarter teaspoon of dried oregano, one quarter teaspoon of dried basil and heat until it starts to bubble gently. Stir a couple of times and allow it to heat thoroughly for 10 or 15 minutes more and you're done! The flavor is at the same level as the mom-and-pop Italian restaurants I love to go to because of their red sauce. I am hooked!

The product is wonderful; I've purchased this brand many times.However, these cans are severely dented and appear to have beenpolywrapped in this condition.I am very disappointed, to say the least, and will never purchase fromthis seller again. I just wasted $26!!!!!
