Q: Does anyone know the accuracy of the 15lb vs 50lb versions of the Rapala scales? If the 50lb is just as accurate for small weights why get the 15lb?

Henry, I've weighed single fish for the big bass part of the tournament that were dead on. Anywhere from 3 pounds to 8 pounds. Then the scale would match my total weight for the tournament of over 25 pounds. So my experience is that in the single fish weights it's perfect. Now the biggest single fish I've weighed on it was a 12 pound 4 ounce bass and it again was identical to the certified scale. I agree with what you were told about a smaller scale should be more accurate but I believe that would only be important if you were weighing things that were less than half a pound and wanted to take it down to the 1000th or 10,000th. For pounds and ounces, this scale in either size is very accurate.

Q: Is the lip clip pictured on the scale the actual clip? Everywhere else with this scale for sale shows a different clip

I got two. One is the squeeze clip and the other is the hook.

I think it is meant to clip on the fishes mouth but you can use it on a weigh bag too.
