Moody Tools - JIS Type S Driver Set, 4Pc Pollicis - 58-0405

Needed this set for my model railroad projects. They work great.

The driver heads fit perfect in my Canon lens screws. This is a $10,000.00 lens that needed new bearings in the collar plate. Its $400.00 for canon to do it "they only replace the entire unit not just the bearings" Bearings online were $5.50 each plus the screw drivers total cost $45.00. Always right tools for the job makes life much easier...

Okay since Amazon and Moody tools won't tell you here's the critical information: 1) If you're working on a Japanese DSLR these are essential because of a difference in the pitch or angle of the head, conventional Phillips will strip out your Japanese screw heads (Phillips are too narrow of an angle) 2) These are based on their own (JIS) system of sizing, the SIZES include: 4.0mm, 3.0mm, 2.5mm and 2.0mm 3) However, to a Phillips user these approximate to Size #1, 0, 00 and 000 In image: black finish is JIS2.5mm chrome is Phillips #00

When working on any Japanese lens or similar product that requires a "phillips head screwdriver" and it does not seem to fit.. . . . stop. . . stop what you are doing before you destroy the screw. . . . . what you have is a screw that needs these special screwdrivers. . . Yep. . . sounds funny. .but they are not the same. . .slight differences cause our american phillips head screw drivers to destroy the japanese screws. . .You guessed it, I learned the hard way on a very expensive camera lens. i did not know there was a difference. . . dag nab it. . Now, I can repair the lens or clean the inside lenses without a problem, because I have the correct tool. And. . yep. . I found it fits our key fob for our car. . . . looks like a phillips head screw, but our screwdrivers do not fit. But these screwdrivers fit perfectly. . . .hmmmm . . interesting. . .now it is no problem changing the battery in this key fob gizzie. . . hope this helps. . .

When searching for precision tools, I wanted to make sure I did not buy a made in China product - it's nearly unavoidable, I know, but I found Moody Tools and Wiha were popular ones. Since Wiha did not have JIS mini screwdrivers I chose Moody Tools. The metal shafts themselves seem to be of really good quality, but I did not like that the plastic handles had leftover flash from the injection molding around the base of the shafts. A little localized sanding fixed the issue, but I was hoping for higher quality control. Otherwise the tools feel comfortable to hold and to use, and I like the color as well.

Saves a lot of messed up screws on Japanese equipment by fitting JIS slots perfectly.

I own a few screwdrivers from Moody and Accu-Min. Although the screwdrivers were made in the USA. However, the quality of the tools is not up to par. For the set I recently received, all of the screwdrivers are not straight. They should definitely not be considered precision screwdrivers. I should have bought precision screwdrivers from either Wera or Wiha.

These are for Japanese products especially camera and car parts. They are well built and come in a nice pouch to keep them organized. The labeling on the pouch is in a dark ink so is a bit hard to read. The marks on the screwdrivers themselves are good however.
