Can anyone compare this design to the gas lift alternative? I want to use them on a cupboard over the bed where the door will be hinged at the top.

This HAFELE Duo Standard Flap stay can stop at any opening position. and Gas piston cannot do this action.

Is this suitable for horizontal loft/attic hatches to slowly open downwards 90 degrees (for a slow/controlled safe opening against head knocks)?

Hi I would not use this product for a loft hatch as I don’t think it’s strong enough. It’s really designed for cabinets. I used it to fix a tv cabinet door that had one of these sorts of hinges allowing the door to drop down slowly. It has a similar hinge installed before, that had failed. I’m sure a loft hatch door will require something much more stronger.
