ColumbiaMen's Silver Ridge Convertible Pant

Oh my god, where have you been my entire life?!?!?!....
Yes, buy them!Ever wanted to walk around naked? Well this is the closest you'll get to that without getting arrested for public indecency.I wanted a pair of light but durable pants, that didn't make me look like a nerdy 6th grader. These make me look like a professional nerdy grown up instead!. Now seriously, they feel amazing, they are SO light, great fit, and feel durable. I've only had them for a couple of months, and only use them rarely for work, but I really get excited every time I get to put them on (I work in IT sales, but every now and then I get the chance to do some field work). They are also great for trekking!Don't think twice, compared to those $200 "Tech pants" (Yes, I own some of those too). These are a steal. Grab a pair! Or two! Please hit "YES" If this helped you make a decision!

Great for hot/humid weather
Fits as expected. Very light weight and comfortable. I don’t do hardcore hiking but in the Georgia heat/humidity, this works great.

Pretty, preety good pants. Shorts could be a little 'shorter'. Belt is mediocre.
Pants fit well and have a little elastic on both sides. Dry well / quickly as expected. I wish the shorts had a slightly 'shorter' inseam. The cargo pockets are not too bulky. The zipper side cargo pocket is very sleek but the Velcro side one stick out slightly. Very good overall. There are matching non-convertible pants if you don't want the short option. Zippers seam good, but not as high quality as LL Bean's pants. There is a nylon belt included. But it is very thin and I don't bother using it.

From Zero to Hero!
These pants have changed my life. I used to be a loser that couldn't get a date due to my heavy pants and un-accentuated posterior. Chicks would look at me with disdain and laugh at my flat hind quarters...Not Anymore! Now I have gluteus maximus to the max. Every room I walk into, with these pants on, is like stepping onto a freaking models catwalk. Jaws drop, eyes bulge and heads swoon. Okay, all jokes aside, these pants are great. I bought them for hiking in the warmer months, I prefer pants vs shorts to lessen the bug bites, chance of ticks getting on me and underbrush scrapes, these babies do the trick. They are light, breathable, comfortable and I get full range of motion with them. Not sure how they will fair in the winter but I'll find out soon enough. They have quickly become my go to pants even for everyday wear. I bought a second pair and plan on buying several more. My wife does like the way my butt looks in them, so that's a plus.

Great fit, top quality...
The pants fit perfectly and the quality is excellent. The zippers on the legs are top quality and easy to use. The pants are light weight for packing to take on a trip, but durable and take a beating.

Ultralight pants, pockets could be larger
I had worn a pair of North Face pants much like these for a few years. When the zipper broke, I looked to replace them with the same North Face pants (now Paramount Peak 2). North Face had changed the design, reviews were mixed, so I decided to try the Columbias.Good thing about the Columbias is that they are lighter and roll up to less volume than the North Faces I had, great for the months-long overland travel that I do.Not so good are the pockets. The fronts are smallish -- not awful, but not nearly as large as I would like. I do love a large pocket, so bear that in mind. Rear pocket is smallish too, and the velcro security tab is laughably wimpy -- a small strip measuring a a mere .5" x 1.5". Do I feel comfortable with a large wallet in that smallish and poorly secured back pocket? Not exactly.Pocket material is mesh, on which things can snag, but that's one reason these are ultralight, so I can live with that. The fabric belt with these pants is lame. Very narrow width of light fabric (another ultralight concession) with a fiddly locking mechanism. I replaced with a homemade belt of 1/2-inch fabric and stout YKK locking buckles.Bottom line, these are pretty good but not sure they're the best choice for months of overland travel. Around town or a picnic, great. I will keep them but may order a pair of North Face Paramount Peak 2 pants to check them out.EDIT: I tried on a pair of the North Face Paramount Peak 2 pants at a store. Nice pants with better pockets than the Columbia Silver Ridge. But wow -- North Face really beefed up the fabric on the P.P. 2s, needlessly so, IMHO, as the fabric in th P.P. 1s was ideal and plenty durable. I beat my Paramount Peak 1s around Africa or 6 months with no durability problems at all. With the beefier fabric, the P.P. 2s are of substantially greater volume and weight than the Columbia Ridge -- by more than a third at least. That's fine for around town or a little getaway, but that extra volume and weight can make a difference if you're a zealous gram-counter doing months of overland travel. I passed on the North Faces and will go with the Columbias.

I do love them, they're lightweight and comfortable
I have a few pairs of these pants, bought 14 months ago on the firm recommendation of a relative. I do love them, they're lightweight and comfortable. I've worn them casually, on long backpacking trips and tromping around in thigh-deep water in the Florida Everglades so pretty well across the board use. Only thing keeping them from five stars is that I noticed over the last couple weeks that all three pairs have a hole in the back right pocket along the bottom seam spanning the inner half of the seam. I have a slim wallet made of sail cloth (Flow Fold), it has no sharp edges and isn't bulky so I don't think the pockets should have all failed in the same place. Other than that, great pants. I just need to fix the pockets before my wallet can fall out, which is almost the case.

Good light pants
These pants fitted really well. Nice and light, they dry really quick. I used these for doing work around the pool/ pressure washing. Pretty easy to convert to shorts. The zips are great. I would order again come springtime :)

Very thin
Returned because the material seemed too thin to last as outdoors pants.
