Perfect! Looks great and works great.
Found the electrical box at Home Depot “ Carlon 2-Gang 34 cu. in. Old Work PVC Heavy Wall Electrical Box “ and it fit perfectly. Only cut the hole big enough for the box and ran the 12 gauge wires to the lower outlet to daisy chain off it. Wish it wasn’t so expensive but worth the money since it’s the only in wall one I could find.

It is on, but does it work? Hope to never find out
Purchased in July ‘19, but I only installed it recently, Sept ‘20.I did NOT read the directions before installing, but I am an electrician by trade.I figured out on my own, that to install this in a wall box, you need to remove the rear cover/housing. It’s only two screws and pops right off, it was probably in the instructions but I’ll never know.It JUST fits in a modern plastic remodel/old work two gang box. I say that because if you plan to use metal gem boxes it may not fit. As we know already know, GFCI receptacles and a lot of dimmer switches barely fit in metal boxes. Also, there is little to no adjustment for leveling, seeing how this is both the device and the wall plate, your box will need to be perfectly level for this to look good.Otherwise, I get power at the outlet, TV works, and the indicator lights are on. Does it protect from a surge? Lol. I have no idea, and there is no way I know to test that. For all I know it’s a fancy outlet with little blue LEDs that says it will surge protect. Hopefully it works and my tv will remain functioning.

So far so good
Had to buy a blue rework double box from HD but once that was done it fits great... perfect for putting behind your flat screen tv... I know my tv is protected because it says so in bright blue letters, lol... taped over it cause at night it will light up your room... wish I could do the whole house with these outlets...also no problems with cords wiggling out unlike the other one I bought that I have to push the cord back in every 2 days...

After some trimming, it fits flush and looks great
This surge protector is very convenient, but did require about an hour of work to get it mounted flush.First, to get it to fit in a standard 2-gang box, the rear cover needs to be removed. That part was quick. But it also has plastic reinforcement tabs that prevent the front from mounting flush. I ended up trimming those tabs using a utility knife and Dremel. That process (being careful not to go through the faceplate) took about an hour. Now it sits flush and looks great. For the price, it seems like a good value.2 recommendations to the manufacturer:- get rid of those tabs- offer a similar product with a higher joule rating. I'd be willing to pay more for more protection.

So much more room now
My refrigerator sticks out past the cabinets. After we had one refrigerator die due to what we assume was a lightning strike, we put a surge protector on our new one. It was a bully black and caused the fridge to stick out at least an extra inch. I started searching and came across this recessed surge protector.I am pretty confident with simple home improvement. It was a single outlet that had to be converted to a double to outlet to accommodate this surge protector. It's amazing the difference an inch or two makes when taking about how much a fridge juts out.

It hides the plugs behind the TV
I had to put a plug behind the new TV since my new TV's cords were too shot to reach the old outlet. The recessed plugs make for more room. The blue indicator lights tell me if the ground is good and that the Surge protection is not tripped. I will say that the indicator lights are quite bright in a dark room and I am glad they arehidden behind the TV.Easy to install in a new double wide outlet box. I used a deep box, but ti may fit in a standard depth box.

Doesn't Fit Old Work 2-gang Box
There are two bulges one each on the top and bottom that prevent this from fitting into an old work box. I would guess 99% if these are being installed in a finished house using old work boxes. Why make it too big for that type of box? To install this you would have to cut the arms off of a new work box and screw it to a stud (if possible) or remove and repair sheetrock to mount a new work box properly. Obviously no thought went into the design.

Great for flat screen tv
This was a great find on amazon. We had a new entertainment center installed and this all in one surge protector and plug in was installed behind the flat screen tv. The installers were so impressed with it they commented how great it was.
