Better than uncle bens but nothing exceptional
I’m a huge fan or heirloom grains but considering the price, this was a bit of a disappointment. Cooked like a very sticky long grain rice and while the flavor was better than something really basic like uncle bens, it did not stand out against other premium rice. Will try another brand of Carolina gold to see if that does the trick. Also, love supporting small mills but prefer my food without bible verses…

Delicious!
This rice has converted my rice-averse husband. Its flavor exceeds that of other brands in the supermarket and this brand has a superior flavor to other brands of Carolina Gold— I think the heavy plastic bag prevents the grains from excessive dehydration. My taste buds and those of DH say thus is more than worth the extra cost. Marsh Hen Mill also offers excellent and extraordinary grits.

The very, very best for Hoppin’ John
Yes, the menu on New Year’s Day requires Hoppin’ John: black-eyed peas and….gotta be Carolina Gold rice. Mine must be authentic, from Marsh Hen Mill, and thank you, Amazon, for making the very best Carolina Gold Rice possible for me!

Worth the price!
I made Hoppin Johns recipe and it was wonderful. I love the nutty smell of this rice and the flavor was wonderful. Now to find other recipes I can use with this rice. I just love it.

Best rice in the whole world

Short grain rice
My favorite rice is short grain brown rice. I ordered this because I was making authentic Southern Hoppin John for New Year. This rice was okay but certainly not worth the price! I won’t order again and unless you don’t like money, you shouldn’t either.
