How strong is the hold compared to Hair Clay?

Hair Paste is lighter — light-to-medium hold versus Hair Clay's medium-to-firm. If you want texture and a natural, touchable look you can adjust throughout the day, Paste is your product.

What does the finish actually look like — matte, natural, or shiny?

Natural. Not matte, not glossy — just hair that looks intentionally styled without looking like you're wearing product. It's the finish that reads effortless. If you want a strict matte result, Hair Clay delivers that.

Can I restyle my hair throughout the day without adding more product?

Yes — that's the core design principle. Hair Paste stays workable. Run a hand through it, reshape your part, adjust the texture. No reapplication needed. No water trick. Most pastes set hard because they rely on synthetic polymers to hold.

What makes this different from other pastes? Is it actually clean?

No petroleum. No PBP. No synthetic polymers. No fillers. Every ingredient in the formula is there because it performs — nothing else is. Most workable pastes use synthetic polymers to stay pliable. Jack Henry does it without them.

Does it build up over time or is it easy to wash out?

Rinses out completely — no buildup, no residue after repeated use. Petroleum-based pastes accumulate on the scalp and require clarifying shampoos to remove. Jack Henry Hair Paste rinses clean. Pair with Jack Henry Shampoo for a complete hair system.

Exactly what I wanted.

All the Jack Henry products are top quality. The Paste has a light hold and not too much shine.

Fantastic

Awesome stuff that gives my hair control but not stiff or greasy. Love how natural it is too, will stick with this forever as long as they don't raise the price too crazy.

Clean. Simple. Beautifully effective.

I’m a Jack Henry diehard. It’s all I use. I haven’t bought a product I that doesn’t work and I haven’t loved.

So far, so good!

So far, this product has done it's job of a good hold without stiffness. Also, the scent is very mild and does not linger. I like that it is a very clean product with minimal ingredients and no toxins that we know of. It is expensive for the size for sure which is why I gave it a 4 star, but let's see how long I am able to make it last! Having said that, finding a clean hair product is like finding a unicorn so if it doesn't disappear too quickly, I may even bump this up to a 5 star!!

Frustrated but moving forward

great product confusion as to whether Amazon or Jack Henry was going to deliver...made waiting unduly uncomfortable. Product arrived in very hot California weather which made the product virtually liquid. An hour in the refrigerator brought it back to 75% life. Will order again just haven't figured out which path to take.
