It truly depends on the animal.
Spill proof? No, my Maine Coon figured it out in two minutes. Is anything really ever true spill proof though? Pretty decent for the price, and some gorilla glue slightly helped me have less puddles in my home.

Great for cats
My seven month old kitten likes to dip his paws in the water and tip over water bowls so this has been a great mess saver! He canโt tip it over and it is a little bit higher up so he can get his food and his water easier.

As others have said, DO NOT BUY!
BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT BUY! My findings are very similar to those of plenty of other people who, despite the low price, regret having bought this product.Just received it today. The bowls are rinsing in the sink because I'm aware/concerned that chinese manufacturing process *could* leave a potentially poisonous residue (oils or ??) on the bowls. As others have reported, these 'metal' bowls are far from high-quality stainless steel! They are very thin in-comparison to many other stainless steel or coated metal & plastic dog bowls that I've bought from reputable pet supply stores over the decades. Various refrigerator magnets *barely* stuck to any area of the bowls. Whatever the material is, it's *FAR* from being stainless steel, let-alone quality stainless steel. Someone -- the US Food & Drug Administration or US Customs & Border Protection should probably check this material out with a Geiger counter in-case whatever metal component they do have is old, radioactive waste. My guess is they're plastic bowls, sprayed or dipped into something to give them a metallic look & feel. Further, they promote the "resin" lip as preventing spillage from the bowls getting onto flooring. NO! If you look at the design, the front & back sides have the raised edges preventing kibble or water from spilling onto the floor, but the ends do not! So if enough water spills, either in one incident or over time, that water will accumulate a little & then once it reaches enough quantity, will simple be channeled by the raised front/back edges to spill over the sides, which as you can see from product photos, don't have raised edges! If I were to use this product, I fully expect that within a couple weeks, the 'stainless steel' bowl used for water will rust or otherwise discolor, as likely would the bowl used for food, which makes it subject to vigorous brushing/cleaning. Once either were to discolor, the product would no-longer be considered safe to hold food or water for my beloved pets. The ONLY nice things about this product:It does slightly elevate the bowls above the ground, making it easier for cats & dogs -- particularly small ones -- to use. It's inexpesive. I *could* just use it for the couple weeks the bowls last until they start to lose whatever fake 'stainless steel' coating they have, BUT doing that would reward the horrible, careless chinese company & cause them to continue to try to --in my opinion-- defraud us.So I'm going to go through the hassle of sending this product back. I know to be suspicious of any goods made in china, but unfortunately, I put faith in a very positive review that I recently saw in some online news blurb. I'm going to try to find that product endorsement, and complain to the web-news source that posted the garbage, AFTER I box this product back up & return it.

Better for Dogs than Cats. No Wet Food
The bowls are good and easy to clean. But their design is definitely more geared toward dogs than cats. As a first time cat owner, I found out that, because cat whiskers are very sensitive, it's better to get them tilted bowls. Dry food is fine in these bowls since the cats can move the food around to places more comfortable for them to eat. Wet food, not so much. Wet food gets stuck around the edges where the cat's whiskers are more bothered, resulting in the cats simply leaving it there and foregoing food, choosing to be hungry instead.I still use these bowls, mostly as a secondary feeding station when the food in the tilted bowls are unfinished after I get home. They could potentially also be used as just water bowls for cats (I have a water fountain next to mine so I don't bother)

Missing the rubber feet
Iโm going to need to make feet to go into the holes for this product. It didnโt come with the feet to grip the floors. Makes this frustrating to use. Seems nice otherwise.

no more mess!
ive tried SO many different cat bowls, cat plates and all seemed to have one issue or another, from food bits being left on the floor to half the food constantly being left in the bowl to the cats removing food an choosing to eat off the floor, all of which has been frustrating and new bowls rather costly. i bought 2 of these upsky cat bowls/trays, they are very light, the blue trays are wipe cleanable, the bowls themselves are lightweight also, just place a bowl into any one of the 2 sections on the tray and remove them once done. my cats never left a drop of food on the floor or the blue tray nor food left in the bowls! the cats appear to eat perfectly well. maybe its the fact the bowls are raised from the floor making it easier to eat from? all i know is they are fantastic and my cats have no problems either. very pleased indeed!

Ideal for elderly dogs
Bought this for my elderly jack Russell who has arthritis in his shoulders and has problems lowering his head to eat. These bowls are ideal, lightweight but steady and donโt move when dog eats. They have a lip either side to catch water or food.

Functional cat feeding tray
The colour is a bit garish and is obviously plastic but is a useful way to avoid getting cat food and water on the kitchen floor. Cat is happy to use it for feeding and drinking.

Not puppy proof - light enough for puppy to pick the whole tray up!
Bought this for my puppy, unfortunately it is quite light which enables her to pick up the whole tray and tip the water all over the floor. Cute idea but not heavy enough to stay on the ground.
