Fits a specific need well
I looked all over for a small radio to use in the bathroom that would: (A) Run on batteries so no unsightly power cord (B) Have AM/FM and TV Bands (C) Weather Band a plus (D) NOT be Silver or Black as that would stick out in an off-white bathroom BINGO! Found this Sony on Amazon and it not only provides A to D above but has some other nice features as well. It is very small and in a darker cream color which blends in well in my enviroment. This radio gets all the reception I will ever need even pulling in weaker stations without ever extending the antenna! Sound is very good from the large speaker for this size radio. The wake-up timer works well. I use the sleep function to automatically turn the radio off after I leave for work. Allthough purchased for use in the bathroom the Sony does find its' way into other rooms from time to time as the small size makes it very portable (has a key lock feature for use when transporting). One negative: The display normally shows the time and swithces to the tuned frequency/channel when powered on. The only way to see the time again is to turn the unit off. This is a nice unit with a sensitive tuner that seems to operate for a very long time on only three AA batteries. Thanks to Sony and to Amazon for satisifying my need.

good sound, battery life & controls; battery change resets the clock!
First - please see the review by "Jmark2001"; that review is on the mark and lists the unit's pros and cons accurately.I loved this radio from the start. It's easy controls, long battery life and excellent reception made up for its effeminate appearance. The lack of a mains power supply was no big deal for me as it was intended for use as a portable. I was happy to trade the lack of backlight for longer battery life (in my experience also about three weeks on 3xAA with fairly heavy use.) Even the lack of a battery meter could be forgiven & the price was reasonable (I paid about $33 for the unit).I was even looking forward to writing a glowing review. Then came the first battery change. The radio resets the clock to 12:00 with every battery change! I was dumbstruck! How annoying! Anyway, I won't be throwing the unit away for this but it is ridiculous to have to reset the clock with every battery change. A small capacitor would have solved this one for Sony. Anyway, I still like the ease of use, simple controls and good sound. The battery change/ clock snafu looses the unit one star, so four stars.--Update after about a month more of use: If the batteries are replaced promptly once they run down (you will know because the unit won't turn on), the clock setting is preserved. I don't know exactly how long 'promptly' is except that the unit's second battery change happened within minutes of the batteries running out, and the clock settings were preserved.Other than the battery/clock thing I remain happy with the unit.

Excellent Bedtime Radio with Strong AM
Sadly, strong AM is a disapearing trait from many PLL synthesized digital tuing radios, but the Sony M410V has paid attention to AM; as a result, this Sony gets better AM reception than many digital radios that cost twice as much. 790 AM, which has weak reception on many of my expensive radios, comes in loud in clear on the Sony. The FM is strong. I get all the weak left-dial stations. The TV is strong with the exception of channel 4, a major station. Here's a rundown of what I like:1. Strong AM2. Strong FM3. Ease of use, large buttons, intuitive functions4. Slender design makes it ideal for bedside use.5. Costs half of many premium radios that don't have as good AM.Here's what I would improve:1. Give the radio more than five presets per band.2. Give the radio a rear flap so that you can lay it down at an angle for easier operation and to avoid having the radio tip over.3. Make the headphone jack stereo, not coming through just one headphone speaker like it does now.Other than those small flaws, this is an outstanding performer for the price.

Nice radio, but no AC adaptor
I like this radio. Nice design, good sound, lightweight. But I would like it a lot more if I could run it off of either AC power or batteries as I planned to do when I bought it. No AC adapter was included and when I called Sony to order the one recommended in the product literature they said it would cost about $37 (which is what I paid for the radio on Amazon!). It can't cost more than a few dollars to manufacturer such an adapter, so what's going on here? Batteries have much higher environmental impacts than grid electricity, so I'm rather annoyed at this lack of foresight on Sony's part. This is not the kind of forward thinking I like to see in my technology products.

Bad Mojo
Great radio, bad shopping experience ended up costing $10.00 more that was agreed to at the time of the sell. Also ac adapter is not listed and cost extra. But great radio

Can't get tv anymore!!!!
Wrote the below review a couple of years ago before the change over to digital. This little radio was great when I was able to hear the audio from tv shows but can't anymore. Still get am and fm but purchased this specifically for tv. So.....needed to change my review.Hi to anyone interested. I purchased one of these for myself and then another for my husband to use at work. I have a little Radio Shack am/fm/tv radio. I've really enjoyed it, have had it for years and in fact is still working well. However, when I wanted to switch back and forth between two stations, I had to dial to one or the other which wasn't horrible BUT! I don't have to dial back and forth with this Sony since it's so easy to program five stations...actually 15 when you consider the different bands.....and have them ready to go with a touch of the button. Also, we lose electricity often enough so it's nice to have the tv portion when the electricity goes out. I do recommend this highly and without reservation. Oh! The sound is great too!
