The Volt Age
EDIT: The product I bought doesn't seem to be one of the ones on offer currently and I don't know why, so in the interest of clarity: i specifically bought "EFISH Universal Multifunctional Portable DC Power Transformer" which has a dial on the bottom back beneath the prongs for setting the voltage. None of the imaged products currently show this, only ones fixed at 5V or 12V etc. I also paid ยฃ13.99 April 2020 which is perhaps a bit high, but certainly not the ยฃ19.99 I see now. Stop me if this sounds familiar: A family member broke the wire for their jukebox. This jukebox runs on an AC to 9V DC 1A power and the cable is one of those pathetically thin affairs that somehow manages to twist to the point of exposing bare copper (please don't risk your life over a wire). Imagine your surprise when you find the jukebox isn't working and need a new AC->DC adapter. This model really stood out because of how thick and well terminated the cables were, so I read on. A massive sign of being reputable, the info on this page is well documented to help you determine if it's what you need. (I don't think there were any leaflets that came with it, but IMO there doesn't need to be as it's all very clear before you buy it.) Namely, the polarity is clearly indicated: inner spike is +ve, outer cylinder -ve. Something working and something working safely are not always the same thing. It's night and day to the plug it replaced. I like that there's a satisfying 'ca-click' when you turn the dial on the plug to the voltage you want. In my case, I want 9V DC, and the manufacturer indicates it can safely supply up to 2A of current, which puts my 1A requirement squarely in that. It's not a lot of power but I saw other products who reported 1A or 0.85A etc (and they are legally obligated to be honest). Overload the cable and it will heat up. It's not worth the risk, so be extra clear on what you need and then check again you're not getting paper-thin knockoffs. (Now to be fair, I haven't cut the product open to check this myself.) Until I have something sacrificial to test, I don't feel comfortable using the accompanying USB charger port alongside the cable just incase that's not really outputting 5V (the standard for USB) when I've got the dial set at 9V for the cable. It probably does exactly what it's supposed to but I can't risk anything hardware-wise and I don't have the equipment to safely measure it to check atm. (Nor can I check the accuracy of the voltage it's claiming, so I would find a better-equipped commenter for this info!) The attachments were good, but I actually had to buy a bigger set to go with it for my use case (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07F7776T6) and here's why: Although you can't tell from the picture, the end of the wire for this plug is actually (very safely) protected by a sort of upturned upbrella pvc ending (perhaps an updated form), which while making it fit snugly and safely into any of the little terminal adapters, actually restricts it from plugging in directly on 5.5x2.1 ("tuning fork") style holes by about half a cm. I don't feel this is a particular design flaw as it's made to fit into an adapter so a 5.5x2.1 attached is really just extending the same terminus. Funnily enough, this extra set's adapter is actually slightly too LONG by a few mms and have had to make sure none of the (albeit -ve) metal is exposed and it is firmly inserted. In short, it's a handy little gadget to have around and I will probably buy another in the not-too-distant future to have as a backup, since I can see it fitting a lot of phones and usb devices (and many other things besides with the other set of extensions that fit nicely in it). There's even an attachment that let's you directly screw your live and neutral to, so it could be absolutely perfect for hobbyist electronic applications, offering low power 5 or 12V DC from mains.

It works and is very good value for money
At ยฃ8.49 with free next day delivery this little Efish and Alsisk universal power adaptor is excellent. It has a UK plug that contains the transformer which converts 220v mains into a DC output up to a max 0.5A. Note: this level of output is suitable for a variety of small electronic equipment like phones, battery packs, LEDs, head torches cameras and projects based on Arduinos but would not be suitable for powering larger devices such a laptops The 1.2 metre (approx. 4ft) lead terminates in a 5.5mm OD, 2.1mm barrel plug which then is compatible with the 7 following interchangeable plugs. These are labelled as follows. Be sure to check that your devices have sockets which have corresponding dimensions. Type A: Black: 6.4 mm OD, 4.4 mm ID Type B: Green 6.3 mm OD, 3.0 mm ID Type E: Yellow 5.5 mm OD, 1.7 mm ID Type F: Yellow 4.8 mm OD, 1.7 mm ID Type G: Yellow 4.0 mm OD, 1.7 mm ID Type H: Red 3.5 mm OD, 1.5 mm ID Type Screw terminals labelled + and โ I assumed that the device would be built down to a price but this was not the case. The Plug is made of a robust plastic material which feels strong enough to take a few knocks. The little plug adapters are supplied on a rubber fitting which keeps them neat and tidy in their cardboard storage box. I must assume that the individuals that have given this bad reviews must have needed different voltage or wattage for their devices. Be sure to check the output requirements for yours. I am very pleased with this little unit and should I need one for another application I would not hesitate to purchase another.

Will not power inflateables
This is my first purchase of this transformer. I have used others which, sadly are no longer available. I have recently returned from the USA with 3 Halloween inflateables. The transformers suppied were 120v dropping to 12v and requiring 1.5amps (except for one which required 1amp). The one requiring 1amp works perfectly. However the 2 that required 1.5amps will not operate. You can here the fan attempting to start but sadly the required output is not there. In theory they should work but they don't. I've checked with my electrical meter and they are no drawing over the maximum power required. I've had to purchase a 240v to 120v, 2000w supply to run the inflateables. They are certainly not drawing anywhere near the maximum power so not sure why they will not work.

Excellent product.
I was spending a small fortune on batteries for the Christmas lights around my front door. (Three 1.5v batteries every three days.) So I cut off the battery pack and connected the wires to the screw connector provided.(Eight different connectors included.) I set the dial to 4.5v (many power settings.) and it worked better than the batteries. This will be used for many years, saving me a lot of money and hassle. Excellent.

Great quality & value for money
Great quality & value for money - Great transformer - Used for some Christmas decorations which previously ran on batteries - Easy to use and change the voltage required for different devices - Compatible with all the devices I needed - So much cheaper to run than using batteries especially for fairy lights around the mantelpiece & hall table

Check the voltage of the appliance you are connecting this adapter to.
Check the voltage of the appliance you are connecting this adapter to even if the cardboard box for it says suitable for 20 volts .. stillcheck the actual item, I didnโt, thankfully before I turned the power on I inserted the 3 point plug into the best bit of kit I have ever bought from Amazon a โHuntkey USB & 3 point plug Power Adaptor with built-in Powerbreak and on/off switchโ If I had not done so when I set the voltage of this mini adaptor to 20 volt as per the printing on the Cardboard box (for a rechargeable battery and portable Air Compressor I planned to use) I probably would not be writing this warning now. The adjustable voltage adapter was not the culprit here, though the instructions underneath this adjustable voltage adapter were so small small that even with my handheld magnifier I found the voltage levels difficult to read and if you get those wrong you are putting your life at risk too.. The culprit was twofold - I should have checked the rechargeable battery itself and not taken the โadvertisedโ voltage for the battery on the cardboard box to heart. I am however a 69 year old amputee whom has never used a handheld compressor before let alone a 20 volt rechgeable battery pack. I took the words โ20 Volt Reachareable Battery-packโ to mean that I could connect my 20 volt adaptor and the empty 20 volt rechargeable battery would charge away, so it was just as well that I at least had the sense to plug everything into my Amazon Huntkey Powerbreak Extension lead as it took the BRUNT OF the charge. With the power off I disconnected the now busted voltage adapter and chucked it out along with the now busted 20 volt battery. The Huntkey Powerbreak Extension lead I bought from Amazon with its two separate USB ports and four standard UK plug sockets works fine. Itโs comforting to know that at least that was a great buy and a lifesaver. I now have a much better handheld compressor too โThe Airhawk Proโ also from Amazon which comes with its own adaptor and is much simpler to use so I can fill my wheelchair tyres up without having to struggle at a Petrol Garage at the dead of night or in the cold and the rain.
