This motor fits NuTone 8660
This motor works well for NuTone 8660. A few words of advice if you're trying to replace the motor on this model . 1 - This model is no longer in production. You will not find any parts for it. Mine is from 1963! 2 - you will not be able to pull the squirrel fan out from the motor shaft even after removing the set screw. Don't damage it (like I did) trying to pound it out. Get yourself a bear in/fan remover (6 inch). Once the fan is dialogued from the fan motor you can hammer it out. 3 - Keep the old motor handy because you need to replace the screws that hold the fan assembly and attach it to this motor. 4 - The shaft is too long on this motor. You only need about 0.5 inch of shaft. I trimmed mine with a Drimmel. I fixed mine the hard way so don't do it like I did but once you fix it it'll last for another 60 years. Only if we made everything this SOLID.

Fit and ran perfectly!
This motor was the perfect replacement for my bathroom exhaust fan.

Heavy duty USA construction
Many replacement motors I looked at were plastic housed DC motors. This is a very sturdy metal housed AC motor. It is a perfect fit replacement in a bathroom exhaust fan unit that is at least 50 years old. Much easier and far more economical than replacing the whole unit due to todays standard size units not matching the size of this old original. This motor along with the new squirrel cage fan I purchased with it has breathed new life into the original unit. Quiet and powerful. I'm extremely pleased.

Fine If You Get a Good One
Purchased this same brand about 15 yrs ago from another online retailer to replace the original Broan that lasted 30 yrs. First replacement lasted about 12+ yrs. This new one was defective out of the box. Once installed it spun slowly, made a ton of bearing noise, and got so hot after just 2 min of use you couldn’t touch it with bare hands. Classic sign of a bad shaft bearing. Returned it and repurchased exact replacement which appears to be working very well after 3 days of use. For functionality it’s a 5 but giving it a 4 because of quality control. 1 out of the 3 I’ve purchased of this same brand was defective, but the good one I got lasted over a decade with a family of 3 and one bathroom. Note for installation: Shaft is too long for a Broan 8661 because it contacts the fan housing and won’t spin. Needs to be shortened by about 1/8 inch but then fits perfectly.

Works great just needed a slight modification
This review is just on the installation for my situation as I put the motor in today and have no experience with it long term. The motor went in easily in the old bath exhaust fixture in our upstairs bathroom. The fixture is maybe 80s I believe. When finished and I turned the fan/ light on, the fan did not turn but made a hum. Found out the shaft on this replacement fan protruded out about 1/4" longer than the original and was jammed against the top of the fixture when the mounting screws were tightened. I just removed the fan motor, dented the inside top of the fixture a bit where the shaft was rubbing and reinstalled and it works fine. Quieter than the old original fan motor that finally died. Not a problem really.

Great replacement motor
My significant other and I tend to greatly appreciate classic items that are still extremely functional. It would have been easier to buy a modern exhaust fan for the kitchen (and quite possibly more efficient) but we both enjoyed the visual appeal of our home’s original (1952) kitchen exhaust fan. The old motor was beat. It finally quit. This motor was a perfect replacement. She is a professional chef that cooks daily at home. An exhaust fan is essential for us. We were very happy to find a motor that fit perfectly in the constraints of something that was designed lifetimes ago. The only modification that needed to be made was the plug end. It comes with a 90* plug that just wouldn’t work for our application. I was able to adapt the original plug end into the new motor. We are very happy with this purchase.

Direct replacement motor for Nutone 8832/8833!
I did not want to go through the hassle of finding a similar sized bathroom fan when the motor went out. So I decided that finding a new fan blade and motor will be my best choice. This worked as a replacement motor for my Nutone 8832/8832SA/8833 bathroom ceiling fan. Very simple swap of the part (note: keep track of the few screws and orientation of the assembly to make it easier). I also replace the fan blade since I was up there and the original one was showing signs of wear around the spindle location. This new motor work great so far! It does seem a little loud when starting, but then eases to a normal volume level. Also used with this motor: NuTone 5901A000 Fan Blower Wheel Assembly.

Horrible. Unbalanced and as a result, VERY LOUD. Also shaft 1/4" too long
Short Story: It's a cheaply made motor that vibrates when mounted in a vertically installed position. It's so loud that you'll take it out and find away to install an inline duct fan in your attic instead. Like the other reviewers, the shaft is too long despite the post saying it is a replacement for the Nutone 8831. Also, IT WAS LOUD! Worse than the old one that I took off. The noise come from the fact that it vibrates (loosening the screws helps reduce the noise, but not enough and that is not safe). The fan was vibrating so much that the wall adjacent to the fan was vibrating about 18" down from the ceiling. DIAGNOSIS: Either the windings are unbalanced and/or the motor shaft's bearings are too loose. As a result, when installed in a perfectly vertical orientation, it vibrates. When I "benchtest" by holding it in my hand, it doesn't vibrate when on an angle or horizontal. But in the installed perfectly vertical position (when it spins like a toy top on a vertical axis), it vibrates.
