Do I need a special soap, or will regular dish soap clean my wood cutting board?

CLARK'S is a castile soap made with certified organic vegetable fats and formulated specifically for wood, with no artificial thickeners or gels. It rinses away completely, so your board is left clean rather than tasting of soap.

Is CLARK'S cutting board soap safe to use around kids and pets?

Yes. Kids, pets and sensitive skin are all fine around CLARK'S soap, built on certified organic vegetable fats with no animal by-products. It is gentle on hands, and a small squirt on a wet sponge cleans a whole board.

Will this work on bamboo cutting boards and wooden salad bowls, not just butcher block?

Yes. CLARK'S soap is formulated for bamboo and end-grain cutting boards, salad bowls, wood utensils, butcher block islands and wood countertops, basically any wood that touches food. Rinse, lather, rinse warm, then towel dry.

Can I use CLARK'S on my board after cutting raw fish or chicken?

Yes, use CLARK'S with a wet sponge or stiff brush right after prep. It lathers up to lift food particles and strong smells like onion. Deep-set blood or juice stains in older wood may not lift completely.

Will this dry out my wood board, or do I still need to oil it?

CLARK'S soap cleans wood gently, but it does not condition it. Plan on following with CLARK'S Cutting Board Oil, then Finish Wax: the three steps of clean, condition and protect keep a board from drying out.
