Imcompariable value!
Aircraft stainless-steel 1/16" wire-rope (cable) is typically rated at 680 pounds minimum breaking strength. These crimps (when properly applied with a swaging tool) exceed this rating. The wire will fail before these joints will fail. You can crimp them with a pair of ViceGrips and they will be very strong, but you don't know how strong - you have no flippin' idea. You have no weight rating if you don't properly use a swaging tool. Therefore, don't rig for people or weights above heads using ViceGrips. If you buy these at a local hardware store (as opposed to a theatrical supply house), you will probably be expected to purchase them in pairs (and perhaps accompanied with a wire stop). They will be VERY expensive (and sometimes you will have only copper options).I have rigged with these crimps in several (non-Union) theatrical productions, including lifting performers more than six feet. These productions were fully compliant with all OSHA requirements.

They work very well, but I always use 2 along with a thimble.
I have been using Loos Duplex crimping sleeves for quite a while. Though I may not need the extra grip, I always make it a point to use two (2)sleeves along with a thimble. I believe it is always necessary to use a thimble or the strands of wire will "crush" if the bend is a sharp radius. A lack of a thimble will lead to wire fatigue and failure on a sharp radius. I use a stainless steel wire with these aluminum sleeves. As stainless steel is of higher nobility, the aluminum sleeve will eventually seize to the wire rope when exposed to the weather. As I stated, one sleeve will do the job, especially if used outdoors, but I feel better using two until the galvanic reaction occurs. This action can take several months or longer depending on the moisture and temperature. Loos Cableware SL1-2 50 Piece Aluminum Duplex Oval Crimping Sleeve Set for 1/16" Diameter Wire Rope

I got some vinyl coated wire, aluminum ferrules, ...
I got some vinyl coated wire, aluminum ferrules, and heat tubing to make safety cables/tethers of various lengths for my GoPro after seeing how much pre-made ones cost. The vinyl coating on the wire will help prevent whatever you're connecting to from getting scratched. The ferrules clamp the cable and make the loops at the ends. The heat tubing I put over the ferrules to prevent those from being able to scratch anything. Make as many custom length safety tethers as you need for a fraction of the cost of the pre-made ones. You will also need pliers/cutters to cut the wire rope, pliers to clamp the ferrules, and a heat gun or hair dryer to shrink the tubing.

Works Well. Consider Purchasing in Higher Quantities Elsewhere
These ferrules are similar in quality as those available from other sources. They all appear to be formed correctly and they worked well on my Forney 1/16-Inch thru 3/32-Inch Wire Rope using the Lehigh Group ST18 18" Steel Swaging Tool . This particular wire rope will fit in the ferrules with the insulation left on if one wishes to do so for low-weight applications. Consider purchasing these in bulk elsewhere for greater savings: Reputable eBay sellers regularly sell 100-packs for the same price with free shipping.

Great For Picture Hanging Wire
For extra strength, I use the Loos Cableware SL1-2 Aluminum Duplex Oval Crimping Sleeve Set for 1/16" Diameter Wire Rope to hang heavier pictures along with the SuperSoftstrand #5 wire (also available on Amazon). The SuperStrand #5 wire will hold up to 45 lbs. and the Loos 1/16" crimping sleeves fit perfectly with this wire. When you use the crimping sleeves with the SuperStrand wire, your picture will be secure and will never unravel. It is recommended to use a crimping tool, but I found that you can also use a good pair of heavy duty pliers to crimp these connectors if you have average strength in your hands

Substantial, and hard to find
These are substantial, I couldn't find them anywhere locally, and couldn't find anyone who splices steel cable either. They are a tight fit which is good, and squish down a lot, look like they will really grip the cable well. I used them to make winch extensions and tree straps from broken winch cable. Smash them down with a heavy hammer on a solid steel surface or vice or anvil.

husbands says they work
Out of convenience, my husband orders these in various sizes and says they work as they should. Maybe a bit higher in price, but we live in a long ways from the parts store.
