The correct valve stem is determined by the wheel. Most use a s short straight valve. They are usually easily accessible on an 8" wheel and the short one keeps it from protruding far enough to be easily damaged. If the stem sticks out further than necessary, it is more vulnerable to accidental damage. The short stems are very common on automobiles and can be easily found. Also, they do not always require replacement. A leak check is easy at any time - soapy water spray.
