How many hours can you sit on this compared to a regular office chair? Do you feel you need to switch to a regular chair after a while?

Coming from an ergonomics expert, yes you can! The height range of this chair is designed for counter/bar height surfaces or height adjustable surfaces. The main purpose of the chair is to “perch” which is the best position for your body to maintain blood flow. You are not meant to sit all day, nor is it any better to stand all day. The saddle seat makes it hard to slouch and keeping your knees below your hips alleviates many back/hip/leg problems. I also have an old back injury that has led to a plethora of other back/hip problems and have sat in this chair almost every day for 6 years, 6-8 hours a day and never want to go back to another chair. It takes some adjustment. You WILL be sore the first few weeks because the chair will retrain your body how to sit upright which engages different muscles than you’re used to. The arm style will also help people with neck/shoulder pain from sitting since you cannot work and rest your elbow at the same time.

Is it normal for the back to wobble a bit?

No. Mine has always been quite stable. If yours is wobbling it may need tightening or simple factory replacement.

What level of padding would you recommend? Which model did you get and would you get the same or more/less if you bought again?

The Capisco, (HAG Model #8106).  I really, really like this office chair.  I would definitely purchase this same model again.  It really works.  I have had it now for about 18 months.
