Very sturdy and easy to assemble Martin house.
I bought this Martin house as a replacement for one that was already on the property when I bought it. The only reason I replaced it is it was the plastic was so old the rails and pins holding it together were cracking and falling apart. This house went through many very windy storms and I didn’t have any issues with it until the plastic rotted away. I would bet the one I took down was close to 10yrs old judging by the look of the plastic. The assembly of the new one was very easy. The instructions were easy to read but the photos were not very clear due to the black and white newspaper used in printing it. Read the instructions first and Most people would still be able to look at the parts, and maybe even use the box as a visual to put it together. It is very easy. It is made of corrugated plastic for the floors and flexible plastic for the sides and roof. The perches are made of flexible plastic and are tapered to fit into holes for a tight fit. It starts out a little flimsy but Once everything is together it is very solid and will not come apart if done correctly. The most important part of assembly is making sure the fasteners are lined up with the holes. The holes for the sides and roof may need adjustment until they line up. The house once together has the ability to be cleaned out by opening the panel with the entry holes. Press two tabs then pull open. There are 4 separate panels to open. They do sell accessories for this martin house you can get directly from S&K You will need to buy a pole separately. It uses a triangular shaped telescopic pole but they have adapters for a round pole if needed. I have the triangular pole and it works great.

Need adapter
Went together fairly straight forward and looks good. I didn’t give 5 stars as it wasn’t until I started assembling that I found out it needs a triangle adapter to fit my pole, which is round. Might be worth noting so people can order the adapter at the same time.

Martins love it.
I had my doubts when this arrived but as you can see the martins love it. In the short time i’ve had it, it has survived two 40mph wind events so even though it doesn’t appear that sturdy, it really is. The martins just stayed inside snd rode the storms out. I like the fact that you can remove dividers and double the size of the rooms. As far ss i can tell, the martins dont care. It will be interesting to see if the larger nests produce more chicks. I’m not crazy about the proprietary triangle pole but i have to say that it bent like crazy in the wind but held up fine! It is also relatively simple and easy to let up and down.

Very pleased
A little difficult to put together, I’m pretty handy, so it could be a challenge for some.Stood it up late in the afternoon , when I got up, in the morning, there were several all over it, like they were just waitingNow I have about 5 or 6 pairs nesting.Might get another one next year

Not worth the money!!
This unit is not worth the money! The floors are warped, the connector pins will not stay together and hold the side pieces in place. There were 6 connector pieces missing. This unit was half this price 5 years ago. From the looks of the box, the item had been setting a long time.

This Bird House Lasts!!!
This bird house is the boss!!! We bought it 5 1/2 years ago! It’s been through straight line winds up to 80 mph!!! And the birds still love it! Definitely a great buy!

Returning one out of two purchased
So it’s a pretty neat idea. Comes flat packed and the pieces pop together. The problem is if one of those pieces is even a little bent or damaged, like the roof pictured in this review, then the whole thing is a little off! Unfortunately I didn’t realize this until it was put together! There was no way to see the structural issues such minor damage would cause until it was put together. There is now a large gap on the roof on one side, at this point not sure it it will just look weird or if it will impact the birds desire to use the house?I bought two based on reviews, and will be returning the other one which I haven’t put together yet. The whole thing is cute but not sturdy at all.Assembly is relatively easy, I will say they have pretty good instructions. The problem area for assembly is the roof section because you will be trying to pop snaps in while holding a structure together so all the guides (which you now can’t actually see because the roof is on) are lined up. Then make sure as you manipulate the roof to line up the holes for the snaps that you don’t loose a roof guide, I did and at 5/6 snaps in place it was not easy to get everything back in place!Like I said good idea, not brain surgery to put together but it does require a fair amount of blind manipulation of the structure at the end.Overall, I wouldn’t recommend and as I mentioned before I bought two and will be returning the one I haven’t put together yet.
