Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood star in this Second World War action adventure based on Alistair MacLean's novel. During the war, seven Allied agents are selected to rescue an American general from the impenetrable German fortress Schloss Adler. In charge of the team is British Major Smith (Burton), with American Lieutenant Schaffer (Eastwood) as second in command. Parachuting into the enemy territory in German uniforms, the squad discover one of their number dead on arrival, and Smith suspects that he may have a traitor amongst his unit.

A WW2 classic to watch if not already done so.
I remember seeing this in the late sixties and was impressed. Seeing it at home in blu ray it was just as enjoyable all the way through, would recommend highly if you like WW2 movies.

Probably in my opinion one of the best, of mot the best, war movie ever made
A workmate of mine around 1969 advised me to go and see this movie which I never did. First saw it on TV a number of years later and straight away thought it was one of the best war movies ever made. I eventually bought the Video, then the DVD and now the BluRay and have watched on the different formats many many times, even though I know what is going to happen. The story is excellent as is the photography the scenery and the acting. definitely one of the best.

A Very Good Film
I totally enjoyed this war film. It was so good I can see me coming back to it many times in the future. In real life I was never a fan of Richard Burton but in this he was superb. Seemed funny seeing Clint Eastwood dressed as a soldier rather than a cowboy but he was, as always, very good too. Money well spent I'd say. Subtitles available if you need them. Highly recommended.

Excellent WWII Spy movie
2020 DVD in widescreen with English, French and italian audio with subtitles in these languages along with Arabic, Dutch, Gernam, Romanian and Spanish subtitles. There is also a making of featurette that seems to have been made in 1968The film itself is as standard WWII spy movie as you will ever get but it is extremely well made with a crackerjack cast who give it their all, along with good supense, great action and a few neat twists that should satisfy most action fans

Good innocent entertainment
A good, honest film - fun for all the family. I'm not being tongue in cheek. For Dad in the shape of Ingrid Pitt in a dirndl, Mum in the form of Richard Burton in a German uniform, junior - plenty of explosions etc. A very easy and uncomplicated plot to follow; the snow scenes welcome during a heat wave. Big name stars - the kind of easy on the eye film to settle down to, good score too. I thoroughly recommend it.
