After moving across the country last year, one of my dogs, Eddie, started experiencing a lot of tear staining and eye gunk buildup. After some research, I bought some well-reviewed wipes to clean around his eyes...but he hates them. HATES THEM. Seriously growls and tries to bite at me if I try to get near his eyes with one. It became such a stressful experience for both of us that I just let it go...and the gunk just built up. Late last week, I came across this comb. I decided to order it because 1) Eddie's tear stains and eye gunk have gotten SO BAD that I'm having to Photoshop the whole mess out of our holiday pictures and 2) I'm a sucker for anything that'll show up on my doorstep in two days. When the comb arrived early this week, my husband told me that it was nice that I was picking this crusade back up, but Eddie was going to hate it. Since I'm scarred from the previous eye-cleaning experiences, I waited until he was good and tired late last night before using the comb on him--and not only did he not mind it at all, but it also actually worked, and really well! Even though I got all the gunk last night, I used it on his eyes again this morning and then again this evening to see if his reaction would change, and he still hasn't growled or tried to bite at me. I honestly think he kind of likes the experience! All in all, I'm thrilled with this comb--I even finally threw out those wipes before I hopped on the computer to write this review!

I'm on the fence. It's a sturdy product, but it's quite large for my small dog (15#). It's impossible to use it right up near his gunky eyes, but it's okay for his whiskers, sort of. The tines are VERY close together.

It’s basically a reproposed lice comb (price marked up) and my dog yelped in pain when I tried it. In fairness. I think her eye funk first needs to be removed with a washcloth soaked in warm water, then followed by the comb.

This comb is just the thing for their eyes..works better with wet hair but I used wipes to dampen hair.Then use the comb on eye gunk and face hair..

Helps lessen the eye stains, but does not remove them all together. Not sure if that is possible with a Maltese.
