If you are careful when applying to the rubber seals and then gently wipe the paint around the seals afterwards with a towel there will be no residue. This product is preventative in nature, and it will help to restore seals that are still intact, but it will not plug holes or fix a crimped seal. The individual touring Armor-All does NOT know that he is talking about. All it does is make seals and plastic shiny, but it dries these components out and shortens their life. I learned this in an Auto painting course, and you will not that NO professional detailer ever uses that crap. The only thing that lasts longer is the detrimental "shine" so the ignorant think this means that it "works". That he painted his window seals as a solution tells one everything one has to know about his lack of knowledge. That is the sort of temporary "fix" that a smarmy used car sales lot would use. Cleaning the windshield wipers are going to extend their life regardless, as most people neglect this. For that, WD-40, is probably even better, because it won't dry the blades out. Washer fluid or hot soapy water would work far better for the same reason. The fact is, those seals of his would have probably failed sooner had he not used Gummi (or a similar quality product). This is why you can find Armor All at any Dollar Store- it's cheap but "looks good". **Q: the vinyl/rubber mouldings (like around the windows are dried out and rough). will this product fix them up to the point that they are smooth again** A: It worked wonder for me. The rubber weather seal around the car windows were rough and discolored (looked faded gray-white-ish). I cleaned all the dirt with Meguiar's D10101 All Purpose Cleaner (10:1 diluted), then applied heavily 4, 5 coats of this.
