Aiphone LE-DA FLUSH AUDIO DOOR STATION

This got our old school home intercom working again!

I purchased this unit, in conjunction with the Aiphone LEM-1DL base station, to use as an outdoor 'call' station at my automated front driveway gate. I needed a unit that is weather proof as it is mounted on a post (with the gate opener keypad), on the edge of the concrete entrance apron off a county road. The unit is approximately 450 feet from the front of my house. I buried over 500 feet of cat-5 wire from the post to the side service entrance of the house. Total cable length is over 530 feet of #24, Cat-5 cable, post to base unit in my kitchen. Communication is crystal clear between the two units! Now someone arriving at my front gate (like the UPS guy) can push the call button, the inside units sounds a tone, we push the 'Talk' button, get the information we need and push the 'Lock' button to open the front gate!. The 'Lock' button simply activates a relay (enclosed inside the base unit) which I use as a switch for my 'Mighty Mule' front gate opener. No power is applied to the dry relay contacts provided in the base unit. This "Door Station" IS weatherproof!! No sooner did I install this call box on the post than hurricane Matthew blew across Merritt Island, Florida, exposing this unit to 115 MPH winds and DRIVING rain for 10 + hours!!!! It still works flawlessly. The ONLY two cons: the 'Tiny' 'Tiny' faceplate screws are not well secured to the mount. The volume at the door station could be louder (road noise from passing trucks makes it hard to hear) Nether of these cons are significant though. I would recommend this unit to anyone who needs a front gate intercom system!

I had one just like this for the last 16 years on my gate, it developed a bad buzz and was hard to hear. I found the numbers and ordered this, it was just like the old one and works like new.

This station is an unobtrusive install and works well. Just push the button and announce yourself, and if they are awake inside, the occupants will respond. Use this in the companion stainless box for a neat installation. I liked the fact that here are no requirements other than a 2 wire signal cable, power is supplied by the inside unit through the signal wires.

Aiphone products last for decades! Had to replace this same model after 10 years because of simple wear and tear and frequent hot summers and rain directly coming down onto it. Now I had built a small roof to house it; to last 20 years or more. These things are built at a high level of manufacture!

Great product so far. I installed these in a private room at my bar so customers can ring the bar and order drinks and food works flawlessly and sounds clear

Replaced an existing box. This is more attractive and was easy to install.
