No marks or odors.Impressions:They did not work for me. I have two areas on my wall where I've burned candles and I have two columns of soot running up the wall. They're light-not very thick or noticable unless you look for them at which point you can't unsee them. So I thought this would be a handy item to request.I tried several times with varying pressure in one spot and I see absolutely no difference. The paint is a satin finish. So for my purpose they were useless. I'm giving them two stars because I think they'd work really well on pet hair. Sadly, I don't have a pet. They'd be OK for lint I suppose.

These sponges worked well to get the candle soot off of our ceilings.

I have been frustrated by the sheer volume of cat and dog hair. Even vacuuming every week is insufficient to stay up with it. I do not have any soot to deal with thankfully, but more than my share of pet hair. I got this eraser as a bit of a last resort, as I am always looking for ways to try to regain (or shall I say gain) a measure of control over the hair situation, as I feel I have never been caught up with it. My first foray came up within just a couple of hours of receiving this set of erasers. The Persian and the Maine cats were both snuggled up on my bed, and on my dress slacks that I had laid out to wear. So, black slacks of microfiber holding onto dozens of light-colored cat hair, and I needed to leave in mere minutes, as usual, having not allowed sufficient time to get ready.That is when I was reminded that just 3 hours earlier these erasers had arrived. Perfect opportunity for a test. I took the eraser and tried to address the white hairs on my black slacks. WONDERFUL! It worked beautifully. The texture seems to effectively almost 'grab,' onto the cat hair very easily! Next, after arriving home from the errand, I took the same eraser to the navy-blue bed spread that was, like my slacks, slathered in hair. It was really rather remarkable in the way that this eraser swept up the hair. Taking very little time, and frankly, taking out the vacuum cleaner would have been far more hassle than I cared to do.Next, I knew of course I remembered that while it was not soot, so again, a bit off label but I remembered in the bathroom we had a neighbor child who apparently smeared dirt from his hand on the wallpaper. It stained, and we have been fearful of trying to remove the spot though it has been there several weeks now. The wallpaper is rather nice, and we did not want to damage it, leaving it unsightly, as it is quite new wallpaper. I have looked everywhere trying to figure out how we may address that stain. I held my breath and gently tackled the very corner of the stain dabbing at it very lightly. It seemed to be working. Dabbed a bit more and still more came up. Finally, with a bit more confidence, I got just a bit bolder and lo and behold, the entire stain is now gone.! That is a major WIN! LOVE IT!I am sure that there are some things that these may very well not address as there is clearly no one product for everything, however having just received these, and trying them out, we are two for two, and I have to say I love these. Again, I realize they are not going to always work with everything, but they certainly are good to have around for those moments when your back is against the wall, and you don't know just what to use. These worked for my situation, and I suspect they will be an answer for many of you! Based upon my personal experience, I definitely recommend having these around for those 'just in case,' moments! Highly recommended!
