Easily the best cat tower I've ever seen, but shoddy stapling raises safety concerns that just can't be overlooked.
What can I say about the thing? It really should be getting a 5-star rating from me, and it certainly would from my cat. It's well built and sturdy even when my cat jumps and hangs briefly from the lip of the top platform. The upholstery is heavy and proving itself to be far more durable than I'd have expected, as is the winding around the the middle column. Most of all, it just seems that, whatever this actually entails, it really appeals to my cat... Seriously, he loves the damn thing. (COOL TRICK INTERLUDE: Lay a small blanket on top of the tube so that it covers the window and one of the openings fully, and the opposite half of the way, to create a little cave for cats seeking solitude! Just make sure there's enough excess to place "around" the joint of the tube and the primary column and also that the blanket is "friction-y(?)" enough to stay reasonable sturdy if the cat should step on top of the window --just gives them enough time to react to the little trap you've accidentally made for them. Mine learned quickly that it was there, though; YMMV.)Why two stars then? The finish on the upholstering was just miserable. Not sure where the picture got to (I'll dig it up if it seems I'm not to be taken seriously otherwise*), but when it arrived there were half and quarter-driven staples all over the place, occasionally leaving a sharp bit entirely exposed. They're fairly heavy staples, and they were frequently sticking in places a cat is liable to engage directly with his head/eyes, including the window in the tube. Over the course of an hour or so, I ran my fingers again and again over the entirety of the tower, finally removing at least a dozen staples. I then spent another hour that night, and a few more over the course of the next few days checking again and again --though I think I only found one additional staple. I don't have to tell anyone reading this how concerning this is for a pet owner. From reading the reviews, you would get the impression that this was more or less an isolated incident, but considering how small the company is and how likely it is that some customers never even thought to run their hands over the entirety of the tower, I find that fairly difficult to believe. More likely, someone involved in the manufacturing isn't as capable with a staple gun, or just got lazy with the QA. Did that person learn? Did they quit? Are they even aware of it? No idea. What I do know, though, is that this thing is enormous and not something you want to try to ship back... dear God, what a nightmare. So I'm not quite sure a single recommendation is possible here. If you're careful, attentive, and a bit neurotic, I still have the feeling that this is essentially the best tower available on Amazon. Just be sure you really, really run your fingers through the whole thing a couple of times; and I maintain, it may be the case that there's not an off stitch anywhere on the tower you receive. But if you aren't really up to that, or you don't want to risk it, my recommendation is to just avoid this brand altogether for now; again, these things aren't t-shirts you're unhappy with where you can just throw them back in the box and hand it off to your UPS person on your way to work. Seriously, I really wouldn't bank on a couple of exchanges to make this a purchase work out; I'm 6'3" and 230lbs and it was unbelievably awkward for me to carry around in the box.As a quick side note, I only paid $130 for this, here on Amazon, just a few months ago. It may be worth keeping your eyes on the price and biting only at something much better than the current $200-$300 tag. Obviously, I have no information as to whether it's actually liable to fall back down again or not, just something I thought I'd pass along. To beat a dead horse just once more: it's an amazing piece of furniture to provide some personal space, ongoing adventure, and scratching base for your cats, but I simply can't not worry at the thought of such a potentially dangerous mistake making it off the floor and into my living room --and again, I only ever caught it because I'm far, far more cautious about these sorts of things than the average person; to a fault actually. I really hope Molly and her friends step it up a little bit; it's simply not that much more work to prevent this sort of thing, and they really don't deserve this kind of money for their products until people can be confident that it's a non-issue.I'm happy to answer any further questions, if anyone has any. Thanks for reading!

Overall it's great; big enough for my 19 lb
Changed rating - See update below!!!First impression - Overall it's great; big enough for my 19 lb. tiger. Although he can't fit through the opening at the top of the barrel, with some practice "Tony" has figured out a different way to get to the top and he now uses all 3 levels. It's sturdy, with minimal wobbling and it doesn't take up a huge amount of space. On the down side, the bed, the barrel, and the saddle are set up so that they are practically on top of one another, vertically, which makes it's awkward for him to maneuver from one platform to another. Being such a big boy, getting from the top down to the floor is particularly challenging b/c there isn't enough surface room for him to move from one level to the next. It's basically a straight vertical drop and sometimes he clips his heels on the last step. Also they should do a better job making sure the staples are flush and not raised. But for the price I paid ($130), it's well worth it. Thank you.Update: After only 4-5 months the tallest part loosened quite a bit. So the crow's nest on top and the scoop on lowest level are wobbly and moved back and forth. Also the staples were inserted poorly and the carpet seam came apart and I had to rip it off of the post. Or, I should say, I tried to remove the carpet. It is also glued in places. What a mess. I would suggest they stop putting cheap carpet on the posts. Use sisal on both.Very disappointed that it started to break down and fall apart after only a few months. That's what happens when you cut corners.

Quality not as good as past purchases
This is my third tree and I always liked this brand for quality and sturdiness. However, I am disappointed with this purchase. It arrived damaged beyond repair. It was obviously damaged in the assembly and not in shipping. The long post was hammered so far into the top tier, that the floor of the top was arched up a broken under the covering. This I paid over 200. for and was expected to ship back for a return. It weighs 63 lbs and I am a senior. I have twice emailed Amazon with no reply and not happy about the service. I really wanted the tree but for the hassel asked for a refund.

My third pice of Molly and Friends!!!
You know a company does something right when a consumer buyers multiple pieces. This is my third piece and I will say I have yet to find another company that can build a quaility product like this. They are solid, come assembled, and totally loved by all three of my "purr units". Sure everyone of them needs a little upkeep, by trimming excess sisal rope over time, brushing and vacuuming the hair off them, but that's normal for any cat furniture. I will continue to use Molly and Friends products. Oh, and they never gave me a free product, discount or anything to provide this review. I speak from experience.

the poor quality carpet ruins an otherwise good product. Cat safety should be top priority!
Would give 5 stars if carpet was not of terrible quality .A short fiber well made carpet is needed. This carpet has loops that easily pull out as well as long strings of synthetic material that pull out . This creates an unacceptable safety hazard for ingestion and foreign body gastrointestinal obstruction which can be fatal..This company prides themselves on quality and expresses a love of cats on their website.. They need to correct this flaw. Sent mine back as soon as I saw this. I'd buy again if they fixed this issue.

Not the best choice for big cats
Oliver is a 19 lb Maine Coon cat. His belly isn't fat but if you look at my pictures he is clearly a muscular and big boned boy. He had trouble getting to the top of the tree.

It is a good size for large cats but it is not as sturdy as I expected. Lower curved bed moves when the cats spring from it to another level.
