Having been a lone backpacker throughout my life 'know' I've eaten countless 'High Dollar' Freeze Dried 'Far Less Than Tasty' pouch meals I've suffered through after leaving the house, bar 'All' the rest tonight's 'REAL' Hamburger "Beef Pasta Marinara" is this 'tastiest' and most Pleasant Feeling In My Mouth Freeze Dried Meals I've 'ever' eaten and I 'Truly Enjoy'd Eating both servings, I am 'Totally Amazed & Pleasantly Surprised! If I could attempt and complete an Appalachian Trail Thru Hike as I had scheduled back in '03 before I broke my back through 'five vertebra' on my last semi truck trip before I was to leave for the trail :( I doubt I would have dropped off 'any' of the 'Peak Refuel' Meals I would have been sent from home in the many hiker boxes along the way to the summit of Katahdin! I will now be buying several of Peak Refuel Meals each month to store for my two year supply of emergency food, forget about 'all' the rest of the countless other corporations selling 'Textured Vegetable Protein' (whatever it's made of) in all their tasteless 'good for twenty years' freeze dried meals for 'Just In Case,' now I've found one that uses 'Real Hamburger' that feels good in my mouth and is very tasty and very filling at the same time, Thank You Peak Refuel :)

These are perfect for hunting, camping and food storage. My husband loves taking them out in the wilderness because they are easy to add hot water and they don’t taste nasty like some of the other freezer dried food. I wish they were cheaper but the quality of food is worth the price.

The only reason for the four stars is the serving size. I truly feel it's only one serving. Maybe they pack in the calories, but still one serving. The ease in making this was very simple. Only boiling water needed. Now for the taste. I thought it tasted very good. I ate the whole bowl. I do like good food although I am not a very picky eater. I won't eat bad tasting food. The taste is in the palette of the beholder. To me this tasted really good. Would I buy it again, I say probably not only because it's expensive for the serving size.

This beef pasta meal exceeded my expectations and is by far one of the best instant back packing meals I've had. We had a limited water supply for our trip and this meal only requires 3/4 of a cup. Very efficient for an end of the day meal. Definitely worth it.

As a Truck Driver, Peak is a way to get a healthy meal ( it makes 2 meals) on the road.Caution- Peak is awesome definitely 5 Stars, but becareful what you 'Amazon' when you order. Amazon likes to put weed killer etc. in the same box.

Still one if my favorites. Delicious, rehydrates well, and used for my favorite thing which is being outdoors. Personally i feel that these meals are worth the extra money. If you are putting all the work in of hiking, hunting, or whatever, why not fuel your body with something you can look forward to eating. Plenty of calories and again, i love the taste. Will buy as long as i am still able to do what i do. Peak really is my refuel.

Food is so subjective. This is filling and nutritious, and doesn't give me indigestion like other brands (you know who you are). But IMO this particular flavor was really bland. It's not bad if you can zest it up with something but I couldn't really taste it as-is. Also, it was a bit harder to rehydrate than other flavors - something about the beef crumbles in this mix left them still crunchy well past the 10 minute mark. They did work out eventually but it took almost 20 mins so naturally it was cold by then.I think this would be really good if you want "el diablo" mode on it and added some cholula (or whatever you like) and some dehydrated sun-dried tomatoes, or a bullion cube. That's all it really needs.

I have tried a lot of freeze dried food. This is the best on the market. The portions are enough to get full and its real beef.
