Sogou Pro Smart AI 42 Kinds Language Mutual Translator with 3.1" Touch Screen and Offline & Picture Translating Support Arabic English Spanish German etc Instant Real Time

This is an addition after having owned the Sogou for several months. I still love the tool and admire its technology, but mine is currently locked up up in a way that again reveals that this is still a beta level product whose user interface does not match the translation technology. Mine is currently presenting two different menus which are mutually incompatible and stop the device from shutting down. Unfortunately, there is no way that I know of to reset the device other than waiting until the battery powers down. Perhaps at that point there will be an interface update available.-------This is a technical marvel that is undermined by rather poor pre-shipment planning. I would normally drop the score for this, but the item is technologically so far beyond anything else that I have seen, that I allowed the full five stars.The hardware is first class and the English to Chinese translation is fast and allows for the use of several short sentences at a time. It recognizes spoken English in noisy settings amazingly well. The speaker volume is loud enough for quite noisy settings, and the verbal recognition of spoken English is outstanding. I am told by my Chinese friends that the English to Chinese translation is very accurate, but the Chinese to English is less precise.That said, the item is not ready for the Non-Chinese market without some creativity. The item arrived with no manual and no indication of how to get out of the Chinese menu system. After the sale of billions of phones, you would think that selecting the base language should be a trivial task. Instead, you will need to ask a Chinese friend to turn on the English version of the controls. Even then, the help files will still be in Chinese.I am still trying to work out how to get the system to photo translate Chinese text into English. It does appear to work, but the logic of the process is difficult to figure out. It is distinctly counter logical, and a translation of the built-in Chinese Help instructions is badly needed. In particular, I would love to be able to download the translated text rather than just read it on the screen. I could not see any way to do this.You will also need to find a case to place this in. It does not even come with a cloth bag. The item is solidly build but it has sharp edges and a single drop could break it. So far, I have not found a case that is built for this device, and would love to have a silicone surround for the case to protect it from drops, and a belt holster so that I can keep it safe while I carry it around. I have ordered an LG Exalt 2 case to see if that works, but the lack of a specifically designed case for this item is a significant failing and another indication of poor product release management.. At this point, I am using a spectacles case.I should mention that I was very impressed that the item arrived very quickly from HongKong,Warning, be careful what you say in front of this device when using the non-local translation mode. Distant ears may be listening.

Bitter sweet. This product works great if you know how to read chinese. Everything in this gadget is in chinese. It's awesome because you dont have to link up to wifi or another device to make it work. If you are gadget friendly, and dont know how to read chinese, you can eventually make it work. This device not only verbally translated everything, but it also speaks the translation. I would have given it a 5 star review IF the normal operation of this device was in English.
