Before I owned this mic I had the Razer Blackshark V2, but wanted an upgrade in mic quality. It's perfect! Super easy to setup and you can tell it's good quality. The size is great, not too big and not too small. One of my favourite setup additions. It includes some parts for a mic arm if you prefer that, and the material is great.

I got this to replace a Blue Yeti mic, which was picking up the sound of my controller while playing games no matter what filters I used. I watched a video comparing the base sound of multiple mics under $200, and the K688 sounded the best. And it really is perfect! Very little needed to make it sound good, beyond a simple compressor to prevent any peaking of the audio if you tend to yell. By comparison, I wrestled with my yeti for over two weeks just to get sub-optimal sound. Even though I had this above my desk, and my hands on my desk to use my controller, none of the button clicking was caught by the mic. I also like that the mute button is touch-activated rather than being a button you need to press down, so you can mute silently. And since I already had the fifine pink boom arm, this of course matches perfectly. I was also able to add an extender without reducing the audio quality at all. Really, my only complaint is that I wish they sold pink foam covers. You can only find them for other models online, and that's just a shame, but the gray isn't so bad.

I’m going to be honest with you, I wasn’t expecting much at first. I had a budget of less than $100 and I was looking for the best bang I could get with my buck. And this was literally the best choice I could have made. The sound of this mic compared to my old blue snowball was absolutely amazing. I loved the fact that it sounds so clear and hardly and issues with feedback from tapping my desk or anything. It’s also really easy to install. All you need to do is plug it in after setting it to an arm, and you’re basically set. There is also a button on it that’s TOUCH SENSITIVE, not press, and it’s actually really neat. I am not sure on the durability of this microphone, being that I just got it a few days ago, but I can say that recording and the usage of the mic is super neat. It also has a headphone jack if you want to use it as a speaker as well! In all, I believe that if you are trying to save money like I had been, and get the best mic you can get, this is literally the best option for that. It doesn’t get in the way and huge on my desk, and looks really clean as well with my set up. So if that’s your thing, this is the best mic for you.

I have purchased 2 of these microphones one for me and one for my girlfriend. These microphones are great especially since we game in the same room, having these microphones make it a lot more fun to play with friends or on our own friends. Since we are able to talk at normal volumes without our mics picking up each other. (It picks us up a little but it’s at such low volume it normally doesn’t matter). The fact that you can connect through XLR and USB makes this mic a no brainer for anyone who is wanting to have a great microphone for gaming or for getting started in streaming / recording since it allows for a budget entry point into gaming and is compatible with basically all operating systems. It also looks very pretty a sleek coming with its own microphone shock absorber that doubles as a mounting point. There are some downsides to this microphone though. For starters it doesn’t come with a XLR cable so you’d have to pick that up yourself. It also doesn’t come with a stand from what I remember, the last issue that I have with the microphone is that it isn’t very intuitive where the microphone actually is. I found that it tends to be directional from the front like most microphones, however a little indicator as to where the microphone actually is would be a nice feature.

I have been super impressed with the quality of this mic. I run it through XLR to a Zoom F6 field recorder and set that to run on my desktop for twitch streaming and content creation. I had used a HyperX solo cast for years and occasionally would use my Rode NTG4+ through my Zoom F6 but this has the best sound hands down in comparison. It is very comparable to the Shure that is highly used for podcasting and content creation for a fraction of the price. My one small complaint is that the mute button doesn't work if used via XLR but it is advertised that it is only designed to work via usb so it is more of a wish than a complaint. Overall, amazing mic for the price!
