Q: My speakers have quarter inch in the back so do the cord go from my speaker to the amplifier quarter-inch or do the amplifier only take wires

This amp takes banana plugs, thats how i went, hook the wires from the speaker into the banana plugs then plug into amp left cchannel then right channel i have 8 speakers hooked up 4 left 4 right this amp rocks

Sounds like you may need a crossover to separate all the frequencies. If you have full range speakers. Highs, Misds, and Bass will all play through your speakers which can over work them and cause them to blow. The amp probably shuts off as protection built in the AMp. The reason why I like Rockville amps. If it's too much it'll just shut off to protect my equipment.

Q: Can I run 3 q power 12 inch 1700 watts with this ??

Will dish out 800 W at 2 Ω /550 W at 4 Ω /and 300 W at 8 Ω. (Passive speakers) Depends on how many ohms your speakers handle. Also what you plan on using it for. I use it to run my Stage monitors. If you've got a couple 12" 400 W speakers that run on 8 Ω then you could probably fill a small pub. If you need to drive 1700 W At 8 Ω or even 4 Ω, you need a much larger unit. If you're going for loud. Might me cheaper to go with two 15" 400 W Powered speakers. You didn't give me much information I hope this helped.
