Sound Appeal Kid Rok Outdoor Rock Speaker (Kid Rok Slate - 1 Pair)

These replaced an older, slightly larger set of speakers that came with a Sony portable stereo I had on the ground against a block wall next to a back yard deck. The original Sony speakers were slightly larger--so the fidelity was a bit better (resulting in the 4-star vs. 5-star rating). However, we don't crank the sound often although we do play it at a moderate level (depending on the number of guests) when we have back yard gatherings. The original speakers weren't made for the outdoors and in spite of our best efforts to protect them (they were in a shady, somewhat sheltered area), eventually, the elements got to the bottoms and these were the replacements. So far (after about four months of use), so good. We've had several rainstorms and the speakers still work fine. For the price, these were a great value!

As other reviewers have noted, these are a good value. Quality sound is important to me, and I have owned many fine speakers over the years. To be honest, I'm hard pressed to tell the difference between these and an expensive pair of polks I've owned for many years. Personally, I think there is less value to spending a lot of money on outdoor speakers given the sound diffusion that is bound to occur. That said these sound good. I listen to rock music and I'm not shy about playing it loud. I have ordered a second pair now that I have heard them. They are a little lighter in color (grey) than pictured, but that is not an issue for me. We'll see how they hold up over time, but I don't see why you would spend more on rock speakers. I recommend them.

So far the speakers sound great . My only complaint is the first set had a blown speaker so I returned the first set and ordered another set . The second has been working perfect so far. I was just disappointed in the delay .

These sound so much better than I expected them to for the price. But they are smaller than I expected them to be. I have them running off zone two on my Onkyo receiver and they really put out some nice sound if you are using a decent source. For instance, Spotify premium running on my Android phone plugged into a 35ft 1/8" to dual RCA male plugged into the receiver. Even with that 35ft of audio cable and headphone output vs true line level input they sound great. I bet they'd sound even better if feeding the receiver an uncompressed digital signal I also have them situated in somewhat of a corner outside my house 12ft apart so that probably helps with the loudness. Each speaker has about a 3 foot lead of direct burial cable that exits from the bottom.

These things are awesome! Super easy to hook up--plug in and go. We have them outside by a fire pit and though we haven't had them an entire season yet, so far they are flawless in their performance. I think they look better in real life than the product picture as well. Synced and easily found by both iphone 5&6 and Samsung Galaxy 6. I'm impressed with how long they keep the connection when I forget I have the phone in my hoodie and go in the house to get something (not sure if that is credit to the speaker or the phone or both). The sound quality is fabulous...they even go a little louder than they should with neighbors (which happens to be my favorite volume level). We plan on bringing them in for the winter and using them in the garage for my workout speakers. Very pleased with the simplicity, the price and the quality!

Received pair of speakers. Appear decently built outside. bottom panel is coated to protect against weather. When connecting the speakers, I found that one of them is defective, and either has a loose piece inside of the speaker, or the speaker is ripped/blown/damaged. Contacted seller twice. No response. Needless to say, I am pretty disappointed. I still use one of the speakers on a mono 80Watt/channel multi channel system for outdoor music. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this speaker or this seller until the seller is willing to address my concerns.

We bought the 4 pack, We are very happy with appearance and sound quality.Great for outdoor space and when placed in a direction your neighbors cant hear from back side mean while the area is filled with great clear sound!

Well built. Sounds great. Paired with $60 dual electronics class Svluetooth receiver and it's a perfect setup. Loud enough to party to but not so much as to piss off the neighbors. Would highly recommend.3 months later - Still going strong!
