I've dipped in and out of Brubaker & Phillips creator owned work over the years but this is possibly the best work they've ever done together.

With all of the outstanding work Ed Brubaker has produced over the years, it's hard to say what his greatest achievement has been in the comic book field, but this might just be it. Not only one of the best comic book stories I've ever read, but one of the best Noir stories ever as well, and it will stick with you long after you've put it down. Excellent.

I had been wanting to read a crime noir story for a while and for some reason never though about looking into it in comic/graphic novel form, until I found this. It's a great murder mystery drama set in old school hollywood (think L.A. Noire). Solid characters, great art, and smooth narrative made me enjoy this page turner. This book would be just as great in black and white, but the coloring is fantastic as well. I recommend this for those who are looking to take a break from superhero stuff or the more fantastical reading options (i would switch off this and other books after each chapter, it's a great change of pace).

This was one of those books I was bummed when I finished it because I liked it so much. If you're a fan of that noir style of writing and a deep focus on characters you'll probably enjoy this.

This work is recommended for all those who appreciate quality work of graphic novels, the narrative and the visual rendering keeps you into the story.

If you like LA Confidential then you will love is noir story, and you'll know why this should be on the big screen.
