Good book but didn't help me pass
Well, I was excited when I read all the reviews...and this could be my learning style why...but I missed passing by 7 points. Granted, it was the first time I ever learned a lot of the material so I was happy I got that far but of course now I have to wait a month to retake it, which has postponed my employment for a month, etc. I'm an insurance agent and already knew and understood about the annuities. I thought I knew the concepts really well and I took three weeks to take the time to really study with this book. I decided to go through a video program Testeachers, which is what I used to pass my California ins license tests. So I am going back to that and wish I did that in the first place now, because I passed my insurance tests by getting 80's. I was really looking to save some money which was why I tried this book.I think if you are a person that needs video or a teacher to really explain concepts it may not be a great option for you just to rely only on the book like I did. The author does have practice tests on line as well as a DVD program you can purchase. Unfortunately since money was so tight for me at the time I was not able to afford that. But now I'm paying more.So if you are a visual person that needs to see a person talk to you, a teacher to explain, don't just solely use this book. If you are good at really retaining info immediately in written form, go for it you'll probably pass and do well.

Books work great, but you sell your sould the second you work at a bank
When I worked at the big banks, and was forced into either taking these exams and passing, or being bumped out of the office. Well I am always up for a challenge so I got this book and studied like no other. The bank also has you go sit in a classroom for 8 hours a day 5 days a week for 4 months, you take each exam and if you donโt pass thatโs it you are done and cant go on. I passed this on the first try. I will say having your 6 and 63 is worthless. You donโt actually get to do anything in the banks but give the FA the account to sell. The day my one year contract expired, meaning if I quit before I owed them 3k, I quit and never went back. The big banks play a terribly unfair game with the general public in which every single thing makes them money and makes the customers lose money. The book works and you will pass, but you also give up your soul in the process. I got mine back from them and moved into a back office role elsewhere.

Not as much as I expected
After reading the two reviews on Amazon I expected more from this book. I was short on time and chose to skim past the humor bits and there were a bit distracting.I am a modern woman; however, was surprised at the author's remark on page 236, "...she may appeal this decision to her favorite bartender, or she may rent several large vats of gourmet ice cream and watch chick flicks all weekend with three of her best friends." Why put that in the book? I can only imagine the author has at a minimum one failed adult relationship with a woman which he has not gotten over and fills his emotional vacuum with lame humor. Does the author also "automatically" hate cats, spend Sundays in his underwear watching televised sports and dream of living the ever adolescent life of Charlie "Winning" Sheen? On the up side, this book was recently updated, which was reflected in this edition.Today I passed my exam with 90% correct. I believe this is due to 80 hours in preparation (I am new to this industry) and the use of many resources, of which I must include this book. Did this book make a difference? Hard to say. Will I consider using this author's books in the future? Probably. Objectively, I can put aside the excessive and unnecessary remarks and see value in the practice exam and quizzes found in the book. Further, the author provided free webinars. I attended one and was impressed at how well it ran (many free webinars give you your money's worth) and I picked up some test taking pointers.

Great Read - Great Resource
Having previously used study guides through Kaplan/Schweser, I can attest that this book was a little easier to read and just slightly less dry, giving me a little more motivation to keep reading. Best part about this book was the 2 practice exams in the back, I took both of them and studied what I got wrong to make sure I comprehend it and don't miss it again. This was my ONLY study guide for the Series 6 and I passed on my first try with only about 2 weeks of study time off and on while working a part-time job. If you run through the entire book AND complete the practice exams, you WILL pass the 6 as the book intends. As the other reviewer says, don't waste your money on more expensive resources.

"The 6" is not so scary after all.
I have been terrified of the "The 6" ever since I was mandated to pass it. After reading this book and taking the practice exams several times, I feel a lot more confident that the test is not as hard as others have made it sound. Perhaps those people should have read this book before attempting the test two or three of four times. I will check out the on-line exam offered by Mr. Wagner as well.

Passed the 6
Pass the 6 was the primary resource I used for my Series 6 preparation. It was well written and the author did a good job of making boring and some times complex legalize easier to understand. The practice tests at the end of the chapters and end of the book were very helpful. I studied the book carefully and passed the test first time with a score of 83. I'm now working on the Series 63 and 65 using his other books. If you need to pass the Series 6, this is an excellent resource that won't put a big dent in your bank account.

Easy Read
Ther book is an easy read. I had borrowed another series 6 study book and it was a very dry read. The series 6 book that I got from Amazon was a very easy read. The author has jokes in the book which I thionk when you are studying for your series 6 you need something to break up the dry reading. Highly recomend this book to anyone studying for there series 6 exam.
