A beautiful and fascinating book that does Rackham justice.
This is a tremendous book. James Hamilton has written a fascinating, impeccably researched biography of Arthur Rackham that satisfies on so many fronts. Whether you enjoy a good biography or like Rackham's illustrations this will give great pleasure. It not only gives great insights into his working process but also reproduces many of his works that aren't usually seen. For people, like me,who were only familiar with his whimsical pieces it came as a great surprise to find out what an excellent painter in oil and watercolours he was besides being a master of line and wash. (His prodigious industry and output in every medium was mind-boggling.) This large book is crammed with photographs, illustrations, drawings, silhouettes and studies that take up as much, if not more, space than the text, all well bound and printed on heavy paper that makes reading it a physical as well as visual delight. As a small child I was often firmly seated with a picture book when my parents took tea with elderly relatives and found Rackham fascinating but disturbing and am still unsure whether he was better suited to the parlour than the nursery. However this superb book has definitely been one of my best purchases this year and unhesitatingly recommend it.

Review
I have always admired Arthur Rackhams work; although as a child I found his illustrations a little dark, but as an adult I now fully appreciate the skill and imagination that went into his work. This book is a delight. It is a quality publication with pages and pages of illustrations and each draws you into his magical world. There is also plenty to read. This book will appeal to a wide range of people. It amazes me that Rackham produced a wealth of such beautiful work without the aid of cameras and computers. He was an artist in an age when good drawing skills were both taught and admired and he was extremely talented. This book is a fitting tribute to his work. I bought this book from Amazon, and as usual it arrived in perfect condition and at a great price.

They are like a window into another world
Fabulous book detailing the life and times of this truly gifted artist, who has been sadly overlooked for too long. I have been a fan since my childhood when his gloriously detailed illustrations would transport me to magical places. They are like a window into another world, and to see so many of his pictures beautifully presented on good quality paper and with accurate colour, makes the price of this book a bargain. If you have read this far, you will know the quiet genius of Mr.Rackham and should now make your purchase without delay.

A treasury of inspired fantasy!
As may be appreciated by the unanimous praise for this book by the other reviewers I can only endorse what everyone else has said. Teeming with facts and personal memorabilia pertaining to the celebrated life and career of Arthur Rackham, this beautiful book is packed with examples of the artist's playful and ingenious mind and will inspire everyone who loves to draw, paint, or simply doodle. It would make a nice gift to yourself, or someone with the necessary sensibilities!

Stunningly lovely book.
This is a beautiful book. The illustrations are so well done. The test - not just about Arthur Rackham's life, although that is enough in it's self, but about the illustrations is wonderful. It's written with humour so anyone can read it, a child could own this book from childhood loving the illustrations right through to adulthood learning about the great draftsman. I just wish I had owned it a lot sooner.

I didn't learn much that I didn't personally know but I thought the text was a good introduction. Some of his less familiar work
I am a big Rackham fan so I'm biased but the quality of this book was really high. I have lots of books on Rackham and some editions of his work collected over the years. I didn't learn much that I didn't personally know but I thought the text was a good introduction. Some of his less familiar work shown as well as the progression through the years. Lots of books these days look like they were put together by committee from stock images at the orders of accountants. This really was well put together with a real sense of care. There aren't many modern books that feel so beautifully made - excellent

Livre magnifique

high quality!
Immaculate typography and format~~beautiful book, prettier irl!! The illustrations and text are of high quality! Everything is as it ought to be, even though the cover illustration is slightly pixelated and poorly rendered in some areas, overall it's just very beautiful. 10/10 😻

Valeu MUITO a pena.
