Easy and Good Espresso
If you’re looking for a good cup of espresso coffee, this is a great and easy way to brew. The grinder works well and based on your settings, it automatically places the correct amount of coffee in holder. No need to tamp down before.Coffee and water settings can be changed from the factory settings. Just buy the freshest darkest beans that you can find.

Not worth it if you like a good espresso
Purchased and returned after one use. I love a good espresso but this machine did not make that. The espresso shot was watered down and weak even with the intensity button used for a stronger shot. You are better off filling and tamping the portafilter yourself than using this semiautomated version. Having bought it on sale, it was still not worth the money. Functionality overall was appealling as it was easy to use and clean. Just unfortunately did not live up to the expectations of the coffee quality it should produce.

There’s a trick to make it better.
Bought this to upgrade from keurig k cups and make an occasional espresso. Yes you can program this machine to make larger cups/shots. Mine is programmed to make a 6oz pour.First impression: everything was too watery. Even with the boost button, Espresso shots just taste like strong coffee. Lacks the intensity and richness you expect from an espresso. The lungo (4oz pour) tastes like terrible watery coffee.I bought the same brand of coffee for both k cup and beans for a fair, head to head test. The kuerig was the clear winner. 6oz of coffee from the kuerig tasted bolder than 4oz from this machine. How? Pulled out my scale and discovered that the kcup had 11g of coffee grounds. This machine only grinds 9g (with the boost on). There needs to be more grounds to make a decent cup in this machine. You cannot adjust this. Here is the trick. Press the espresso or lungo button and Start grinding. After 4 seconds, press the button again to stop mid grind. This will fill the portafilter with a 3-4g of coffee without brewing. Now do it again and let it brew. The machine will now grind 9g on top of what’s already in. Now you have a total of 12-13g which changes everything. So much bolder and richer.Overall, I like it. After this hack, it makes an amazing cup of coffee and an acceptable espresso shot. Great for easy convenience. If you are an espresso snob, this machine is not for you.I also have concerns about the Portafilter. After cleaning and drying, there is still water that gets trapped inside. You have to shake it violently to get trapped water out. Even then, it is impossible to get it all out. There will always be moisture inside with no way to fully dry. Mold is inevitable without intentional care. I’ve

Would not dispense water and then leaked from underneath
I bought the combo Philips Barista Express & Milk Frather during Amazon's July Black Friday sale for my husbands 75th birthday in August. He loves his coffee and an expresso machine would make him happy. The return policy was 30 days and if I surprised him with it on his birthday, I would be over the 30 day return date. So I gave it to him early. He was excited and set it up. Not much to this machine, really easy which is why I bought the Barista. Well, beans were ground but no water would dispense. The water would then leak out of the bottom of the unit. We tried over and over, looked up You Tube videos, checked Philips website and nothing. So I was very glad that I gave it to him early. It was returned. Now I have to either buy it again at a higher price or go with another machine. This one just seemed so easy to use. Amazon did not give me an option to return with replacement.

Love it!!!
I absolutely LOVE THIS! It is ridiculously easy to use, my 11 year old son is now my personal barista. I've been loyal to starbucks for too long and this makes the $9 drink obsolete. It brews super fast and is easy to clean.
