This machine has a 600 Watt heater that can heat the water up to 190-210 degrees fahrenheit.

Can a disinfectant additive be used? If so, any recommendations?

You can add a disinfectant to the water and it will not hurt the machine as long as it is a non-foaming product. I don't know how effective that will be but the machine can handle it! (check with the chemical manufacturer to find out if that is a good way to use the chemical)

This comes with an 8' hose and wand assembly.
