EASY INSTALLATION, GOOD PROTECTION, LONG LASTING....
After YEARS of not properly servicing my hot water heater with checking/replacing the anode rod, I knew that it was past time to check this very important component. The installation was very easy, BUT, you WILL need an impact gun AND an impact gun rated SIX POINT SOCKET, to remove the factory anode rod. (There is a very good chance of rounding the anode rod head top if you try to use a 12 point socket - and THEN you're screwed).... These factory rods are sealed with a compound that makes trying to remove them with a wrench impossible and it took 5-7 seconds of my impact gun to loosen/remove the factory rod. The pictures show my installation that included a home-built anode monitor box that measures the applied voltage and current. This box is certainly not needed, but, being very technically minded, I wanted to know exactly the electrical parameters of operation. It has been a year since installation and it is hard to tell just how well it is working, but, with a typical current of ~10-15 Milliamps at 3 volts, it is providing a visual indication of circuit operation. The very best time to install this rod is when the water heater is new, but, installing this rod anytime will help you receive a longer service life of your water heater.... One picture shows that the voltage output is a PULSED 12 volts, which is normal for this type of circuit.. Also, after more research, it is advised to set the heater temperature to at least 130 -135 degrees which is required to kill the bacteria that lives in lower temperature hot water. The day following this higher temperature, I DID notice that the hot water "smelled better"? and this must be due to the higher temperature setting that was providing a "cleaner" hot water.. (TRY for yourselves).... I did have my temperature set to 120, but, now at 135, the water smells better.... P.S. To supply the 120 VAC required for the power supply, I connected one side of the heaters 220 VAC line and the other to neutral - this provided the voltage without having to run an extension cord which was great....All in all, this unit seems to be working fine and the monitor box I built informs me of its operation....

Works almost instantly.
My hot water heater was less than a year old. In almost 30 years on my well it is the first time my water started smelling really bad. I followed the directions. Installation was pretty straighforward. The only thing I did that was not given, is I turned the cold water supply off. A little bit of water did come out because I did not drain any out of tank. Just a tiny bit when the anod rod was broken free. Remember to turn the hot water way up overnight and then back down in the morning. I ran the hot water for about 6 mins. After the install, I ran hot water again out of all of my outlets. Glad I did because dirty water ran out of each. Hot water is now great, no smell whatsoever. Very Happy. And with a 20year warranty!!

It works right away to mitigate smell
I have had this product installed in my RV water heater for about 2.5 years now. Before i had this my water was very stinky. And bleaching the system would only fix it for a little while. I bought this product and was fairly skeptical about it. It immediately resolved the smell problem. Seemed like it took less than 10gal to clear the smelly water. No issues with corrosion and water has been good ever since i installed it. Totally satisfied. Excellent value and good pricepoint. If it had been much more expensive then i might have not tried it because i would have thought it is a gimmick. But now i can safely say it is not a gimmick. It works exactly as advertised!

The ONLY powered anode you should buy
Ok i researched every powered anode on amazon and across the web. There are form factor gimmicks, pricing ranges, similarities where even most are using the same power supply. What decided it for me was going to Water Tank Tec's website and reading the wealth of knowledge presented there about this technology, and the honest analysis of almost all other vendors selling similar powered anode technology here on Amazon. Do yourself a favor and just go read what this company has to say about this product and to gain a deeper understanding about what this product actually does. This device is extremely well built, the power supply is most unique and created by the company (and i can also say correctly designed, to tune its output to your specific water heaters voltage/current protection needs). None of the competitors have anything like this.Installation was a breeze with impact wrench (old anode removal), i didn't need the provided anode extension, and the anode arrived pre-wrapped in thread tape, good to go installed in 5 min with provided instructions. As a nice bonus there is 8 feet of cord to run from the power supply plugged in to the anode which was perfect for me as i needed 7 feet of length.Once powered on and everything correctly hooked up the power supply took about 20 seconds to "learn" my water heaters protection needs then went to a solid green light which i measured this voltage in one of the photos. Everything has been working flawlessly for almost 6 weeks and I've unplugged it a few times to test the power supply and the systems recovery without any issues seenWith a "true" lifetime warranty, outstanding customer service, and delivering a product that really works at a fair price you should just put this non leaking anode into your cart. Just go to their website and read all the wealth of knowledge provided, i couldn't find a knowledge collection this thorough anywhere else on the Internet about powered anodes. I knew i had my next anode choice after reading all this wealth of knowledge. Just put this one in your cart, its the one you really want.
