It changes differently on each person, activating differently depending on the color of your skin. I do not at all like the taste. It’s a bit yucky. But it’s not so bothersome that I won’t use it. I don’t notice any smell. The case is pretty, however, in my opinion, it is very cheap looking and feeling. It’s just because of the materials that I think that it looks and feels cheap, sort of like what some companies would make children’s play makeup out of. It is most definitely not anything that I would call “high class.“ It has a pretty little rose towards the bottom and you can see it if you wind the lipstick all the way up. That’s a nice conversation piece. There are also little golden flecks scattered throughout the clear lipstick. My husband was really amazed when he watched me put it on. So that was fun. It is not drying to the lips, although I do put a lip moisturizer over it. I don’t feel like the color lasted on my lips very long.
