## Description

KISHIBORI SHOYU 12.2 fl oz(360ml). Pure artisan Japanese soy sauce. All natural barrel aged 1 year unadulterated and without preservatives

Review: Best tasting soy sauce - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The "Single Malt" of Soy Sauce. Absolute liquid gold. If you’ve only ever had the mass-produced soy sauce from the supermarket, you aren't actually eating real soy sauce. I bought this on a whim, and I can honestly say it is the best soy sauce I have ever had—hands down. It is 100% worth the money and then some. What makes it different? Unlike ordinary brands that use chemicals and additives, this is an artisan shoyu made with only three ingredients: whole soybeans, wheat, and solar salt. It is fermented for a full year in 100-year-old cedar barrels on Shodoshima Island. The Flavor Profile The difference isn't subtle; it's a completely different experience: The Aroma: Rich and intense without that harsh chemical smell. The Taste: It’s incredibly smooth and full-bodied with a complex umami. You can actually taste subtle notes that get drowned out in cheaper sauces. The Color: It has a beautiful amber clarity that looks premium on the plate. High Value for Real Foodies At first, the price might seem high for "just soy sauce," but because the flavor is so concentrated, a few drops go a long way. I treat this like a high-end olive oil or an aged balsamic—I use it as a finisher for sushi, wagyu, or even just over simple rice. Bottom Line: If you care about the quality of your ingredients, this is a total game-changer. I’m never going back to the grocery store stuff.

## Features

- This koikuchi soy sauce is made from selected whole soybeans, wheat, and sun-dried salt, naturally brewed for over a year in cedar vats, and pressed directly from the mash.
- In soy sauce breweries, the koji mold that grows soy sauce lives for decades, creating a flavor that is unique to that brewery. The soy sauce is aged for more than one year to produce a rich, thick "hishio moromi" that is full of umami ingredients and has the richness and depth that only naturally brewed soy sauce can have.
- Kishibori Soy Sauce is made by pressing the mash slowly matured in wooden barrels on Shodoshima island of Japan with mild climate.
- The keys to Kishibori Soy Sauce are to use no artificial preservatives or sweeteners, to age soy sauce in the traditional way in wooden barrels, and to carefully pack each bottle in a special wrapping paper. The special flavor of this freshly pressed soy sauce is expressed in its full-bodied taste, beautiful color, and rich aroma.
- Enjoy its delicate flavor on its own. Or you can also enjoy its enhanced roasty aroma by pouring the sauce over grilled beef or chicken, or using it on fish or fried rice dishes.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: where is it made?**
A: Japan. Probably the best overall soy sauce I've ever used.

**Q: What is the sodium content? I'd like an answer from the manufacturer since the label is all in Japanese.**
A: There is so much false information here about sodium content. I just received my 24oz bottle. The outside label on the wrapper says 870mg. The label on the bottle itself says 720mg.
Regardless the taste verdict is that it is salty. It fails the salty taste test for me. See pics of label in my review.

**Q: Can someone tell me what the exact ingredients are? Thank you!**
A: Everything on the bottle is written in Japanese but I looked it up on some other sites and the claim is water, soy beans, wheat, sun dried sea salt.

**Q: is there MSG in this?**
A: According to the FDA, MSG occurs naturally in many foods including tomatoes and cheese. MSG was originally extracted and crystalized from seaweed.
MSG is naturally present in soy bean extracts.
The glutamate in MSG is chemically indistinguishable from glutamate present in food proteins. An average adult consumes approximately 13 grams of glutamate each day from the protein in food, while intake of added MSG is estimated at around 0.55 grams per day.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've been ruined for cheapo soy sauce
*by S***A on 27 December 2019*

This is a serious commitment to soy sauce. It's not cheap and it's supposed to go in the refrigerator. One one hand it is the best soy sauce I've ever owned. On the other hand it's probably 20x the price of the soy sauce I usually buy. All the superlatives "depth of flavour" are true, but like drinking a fine bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape ruins you for the $15 Aussie Shiraz you stockpiled for special occasions, this makes you realised just how mean and basic the $2/L Aldi version is. Buy it, enjoy it, then don't try to replicate the experience until your are sufficiently intoxicated not to know the difference.
