I love these in my garden. I bought the 18-inch size to provide steady, sturdy support my bush beans and six-foot poles for my tomato plants. Being bamboo, I do not need to worry about how they will hold up in the elements. They are stiff, straight and completely untreated like some other wooden dowels are. The are sufficiently thick so you get good support, but you do need to be careful about splinters. And they are far less expensive than wooden dowel rods. I suspect they will hold up longer too.

These were bought to use in my reptiles’ tanks. They’re great quality, perfect thickness and size, supportive, easy to use and great value for the price.

The photos make the width look like the stalks are wide and uniform width. While bamboo is generally sturdy, it matters what the width of the stalk is to avoid tipping or leaning in the dirt with the weight or growth of the plant. Most of the stalks I got were 1/4" or less. Thin enough to push down into the soil easily, but too thin to anchor securely. These are best for small house plants that need minimal support. If you plan to support a larger plant, you would have to use a lot of these.

I inherited some already leaning tomato plants and these work very well on getting them back to standing. They were easy to use and put next to the plants. They are not very thick so they blend in with the plants so when you look out you don't see something big and bulky.
