Japanese Sake Set

Great gift for the 50+ year old man.

This set is so beautiful! It seems very well made and such a nice piece to have to bring in more culture than just mere drinking. I believe this would also make a beautiful gift for someone who enjoys drinking tea or sake.

I often reach for this set when I want to slow down and pour something with intention. Whether it’s a rich cup of sake or a quiet tea blend late in the evening, this set adds a kind of presence to the moment. It is heavier than it looks, with a solid feel that makes it clear it was made with care. The tray is small but perfect for carrying everything from kitchen to table without needing a second trip. The design is striking. The blue glaze has depth to it, like layers of water and light shifting around each other. No two pieces look exactly the same, which makes the set feel a little more personal. Friends always comment when it’s on the table—it usually turns into a conversation about pottery or travel or something unexpected. Nicely crafted for a Japanese sake set that is made in China. Recipient of the set was thrilled with appearance, functionality and ease of use. However, shipping was sub par. The box is part of the set. As a result it should have been packed in an outer shipping box. A great deal of time was spent carefully removing all the shipping labels. Sometimes small things mean a lot

Watch for cracking. Although this set is decorative, I'm not sure about the quality. Our first use was our last. Apparently, the kettle pot was not able to withstand the temperature from the tea light candle when 3/4 full of water and developed a hairline fracture and emptied the water into the tray. Obviously, these things can happen for numbers of reasons so no big deal or major disappointment there. The real disappointment was when I attempted to return for a replacement. Even though the add touts a 90 day return policy, I was notified that this return is not eligible. Now it's back to heating up our Sake in saucepan on the stove. Not very romantic but gets the job done.

We got one and used the microwave to heat the water up a bit. Realized that was a base idea when it the bowl cracked. Got another one and ONLY used the tea candles and the bowl cracked again. It looks good but do not buy.

This is a beautiful set of traditional sake pottery. The glaze is stunning, and the colors are simple but with good aesthetic. Each piece of pottery is lovely, from the tiny cups to the candle holder. The water saucer for the liquor jug distributes the heat nicely to warm the sake. This is a wonderful gift for any fan of Japan! (The tray will be discarded. It's cheap, lacks sufficient handles, and is glued together roughly.)
