Chilton's Volkswagen Golf & Jetta, 1999-02 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual) 1999-02 ed. Edition

This book was a must have for me. It has all the information you need to do work on your car and save money by doing it yourself.I have relied upon it many times.The book price is fair.

This is a very handy book if youre looking for wiring, body or other diagrams. The 2.0 and 1.8 motors are even included and it's all very straight forward. I was dissapointed to find out that the VR6 motor is not covered in this book, however I shouldve read the cover before buying

This is a Chilton's manual for the 1999-2002 Jetta. The manual is a must for any one who can turn his own wrench to save +$70 per hour for minor repairs. The pictures are in black and white, and the book itself could have slightly more detail and cover more topics. This book is a worthwhile investment however if you're able to use a wrench or socket set. It'll pay for itself and then some after one repair or preventative maintenance.This book contains engine overhaul procedures, and a wiring diagram. Why don't you own one for all of your vehicles?

The cars stated that the manual suppose to cover are not. Working on door for a 2001 Cabrio. There is nothing. Half this book is half of every book they have. Paint and body, electric diagrams which are good but they don’t match all the cars that’s claimed on their cover. At best a reference but, not a manual.

I have both this book and volkswagen's service manual. If you do regular, simple maintance only, this book will suffice. If you change timing belts, serpentine/accessory belts, or more advanced work ... it will not be enough. You should buy the service manual as well. However, notice that I said "as well". It is far easier to find information quickly with the Chilton book than the service manual. But, if you need detailed drawings and explanations on how to do something, you will need the service manual. So, I use both in my garage.

I have a 2001 Cabrio. I wanted to find 2 things when I ordered this book: How to replace the fuel door lock actuator, and a picture of where to find the fuses. The fuses do not exist where the book says they are. The one reference to the fuel door lock actuator says "See chapter xyz." I read every word in the referenced chapter... not one mention of the fuel door lock actuator.Very disappointing.

Chilton manuals are never as good as the complete shop manuals but serve in a pinch. Of course the shop manuals are ridiculously expensive, and this is better than nothing.
