Beautiful and grounding tatami mat. Exceeded my expectations! I use it instead of a rug and sometimes put my futon on it to sleep. Very happy with this!

I have concrete flooring in our home, and I choose to use futons because I find it relieves alot of back pain. And using a rug under the futons was not cutting. Decided to splurge and order these, the quality is very nice and comfortable by it self and has helped immensely under the futons. I've read many complaints about the smell, but frankly I find it comforting as it reminds me of when we were kids and would take the back roads with our Nana just to smell the alfalfa. Over all will return for an update after some usage.

The mat is thick, and stitches are nice and even. However, it has missing / broken hay here and there. It does strong hay smell, so please air vent it for a couple of days before using. Last thing, although the vendor's address is in Japan, this mat is made in China.

I love this Tatami mat, and I use it under my futon. However, I do suggest airing it out before use if you don't want your room to smell like hay.

It's a great mat. I fold it up every night along with my futon giving me an extra room in the apartment. It's also padded (of course). Takes me back to my days visiting Japan. Well worth it - and the quality is just excellent.

Those two things in combination are absolutely perfect. I’ve never slept better my body has never felt less pain in years, and the quality is excellent. I’m never gonna go back to regular mattress

It arrived very wet and stinks like a guinea pig cage and bug spray or chemicals. It says I'm supposed to send it back but the box was damaged and wet. Cardboard melts in the rain. I don't have access to another box this size. 😕 I don't know if all the rain and damp box made it smell worse? Or just brought out the odors? It really smells like animal droppings.

Purchased to go beneath a futon / shikibuton. Does the job, folds well, and has a nice herbal scent, reminiscent of green tea.
