ARRIS (G18) - Cable Modem Router Combo - Fast DOCSIS 3.1 Multi-Gigabit WiFi 6 (AX1800), Approved for Comcast Xfinity, Cox, Spectrum & More

Hello fellow Amazon Prime members! I wanted to give a review on the Arris G20 Cable Modem Router Combo and I must say, this modem is AMAZING! I was doing a lot of research for the past few months because I needed a newer modem to be able to do the things I wanted to do. This modem by Arris offers all that and more! The installation was super easy! I have Xfinity and setting it up through Xfinity app was a breeze! Even though the Arris G20 looks small, it packs a punch delivering robust speeds to the internet with it's Wifi 6 technology! This modem gives you both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz! The key features I was looking for in a modem was "would I be able to control it through the Arris Surfboard app itself" and it does! I can't begin to tell you all the other reviews I read on other brands and models that people was not happy with! Before buying this model, I had purchased a Motorola MG8702 and it was a fail for me, no network support, no ability to control settings through the app, nothing, lol! Then comes along the Arris G20 Surfboard! You can set up profiles for your entire family and this is really helpful if you have kids! You can set time limits, add their gadgets, turn the internet off and on when you need to and just simple to use parental controls all through the app! This is great replacement for my older motorola surfboard modem/router combo that I got back in 2011 to use with spectrum. It was older docsis 3.0 and needed to be replaced. Also easy to call cable company and have them enable it. The gateway menu options are similar and easy to navigate and wireless network setup is easy. The firewall now allows for other devices on my network that require other (different) ports. Before I had to keep setting on low (all ports opened) but now I can keep on medium for more safer network. Works great with 1gb network ports with cat 6 and wifi 1gb (current ISP is about 400gb). No issues with it so far. Love it!

Don’t buy. The ap is hard to use and annoying to set up. Right away Arris had “cloud” issues when i had to call to finish the set up. My tv now has grainy pictures and the streaming aps load slowly. Cant use YouTube at the moment. I regret purchasing this over priced piece of crap. Small apartment and it cant reach all the rooms. I waited too long to set it up so now i cant return it. Huge waste of money.

it works as well as a basic modem router combo should, if you are looking to do multiplayer gaming, i'd recommend doing the G20 version at least for the increased upload speed. But if your doing general internet use and singleplayer experiences, this will work. You will be required to make use of a phone app, SURFboard. And the app is a bit weird at first, and really i would give this product 4 stars if the app was specific to this modem cause there's a setting allowing you to combine blah blah and blah blah and until you switch this on you will feel like your just making passwords for nothing. Your ISP, for me was Spectrum, may also offer a free cell phone and cell phone service as part of the internet service.

I and Xfinity tried all tricks to get it to connect to the internet and it would connect but no internet access. We reset it multiple times without luck and could not get it to function.
